About 10 days ago, the temperature was in the triple digits. Just now, I returned from a walk down the road with my jacket on. It is 54 degrees away from the triple digits! A change is in the air. I can not do anything about the change. It will come about at its own speed. Whether it is near or far a frost will come, snow will blow, and like it or hate it, the change will have taken place. Lots of changes occur that we don't like. I can not do any thing about the change, but I can control my attitude toward this change. Philippians 4:6 thru 8 offers lots of help in this area. If we remember to thank God for our blessings, ask for His help, and dwell on positive things, we'll be able to handle these changes with class. I think handling our attitude is one of life's great challenges—it is for me. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week too.

Your message is real timely for me, Shortgrass. Thank you for the God-inspired words of wisdom.

We have had some nice late summer rains which have kept the grasses green and pretty, but Autumn and change are definitely in the air. Each new day is a gift from God. We just need to lean on Him for guidance and direction on how to best utilize these precious, but irreplaceable gifts of Time. Put our trust in the Lord, and He will handle our troubles for us, in His way. Sometimes this is easier said than done. :-)

It has taken me a long time to start to learn that I when I can't control change, I can at least control my attitude toward it. Not always east though.

Thank you, Shortgrass.

Once again thx for a must needed message. Hope Jans doing well, bet her attitude helps your family through alot.... :)

Does anyone out there get the blues this time of year? I'm not talking depression, but for me this time of year when there is a lull in the work load and there is not anything really pressing to do it's hard for me to get motivated to do something. It goes to show that being busy is good for my attitude and even though the stress of the busy times is sometimes complained about, it think it is good for my overall outlook. Anybody feel the same way?

Big Swede, that's pretty interesting because for me feeling the blues hits in the winter time. This time of year I feel completely satisfied with the way things are, rain or shine, busy or not.

Big Swede, maybe that means it is time for you to take in a day at Dakota Fest in Mitchell!

We decided to stay home and work this year and I feel a loss, missing out on on the seminars there. We are getting the hay almost up......then there will be lots of hauling it all around to the hay yards. Great to have more than these past few years, even though we still are in drought mode with less rain than many areas all round us. Pastures are holding up pretty well, always something to be thankful for.

mrj, I came by Mitchell last week returning from my OH trip and Dakotafest was going strong. I should've stopped but that likely would have delayed my return home by another day! I did stop in Mitchell, had lunch, and did a little farm store shopping because except for one gas stop I had been in the car since before Des Moines IA.
