We just returned from the Pikes Peak Cattlemen's BBQ. A cool, enjoyable evening spent visiting with friends, neighbors, and fellow cattlemen. We stopped at the mail box on the way in, and found a card from our eldest. Just a card for no particular reason but to encourage us. She learned such things from her ma I reckon. The card said:

"You are going through trials and difficulties not because God has abandoned you, but because he has chosen you and called you to know His heart."

I knew that, but sometimes I need reminded of it. Thanks, kid. Just wondered if some others might not have needed a reminder also--Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week too.

Thanks for your weekly notes of encouragment, Shortgrass!

On Thurs I returned from a 2650 mile round trip to OH. The occassion was a family reunion/aunt's 80th birthday party. The goal was worth the traffic hassel and gas expense to get there. I appreciated and needed all the encouragement I got to make this trip! This country boy ain't used to big city traffic!

I hope you and others who are dry have gotten some precip. No rain here while I was gone but when I got back I can't believe how things are still green and growing here in late Aug. The alfalfa that I cut shortly before I left is in full bloom again and some are taking a second cutting. I'm going to leave mine for a possible seed crop or to catch snow. It's something that hasn't been seen here for years.

Thanks for sharing that great line of encouragement, Shortgrass. Trials are difficult to get through, always, but they do give ample opportunity for us to get to know God better. Without these hardships, we tend to become complacement and world-minded. When we lean on God for help and read His Word, our relationship with Him is magnified immensely.

Looks like a nice day in the making here in the Sandhills. It is supposed to get to 88 degrees, with a 30% chance of precipitation this afternoon. We can always use a nice rain. Man can make a good guess of what the weather will be, but only God knows for sure. :-)

Even a heathen like me can understand that message  . You all remember our friend Red Robin who posted on here? He's been doing a good job posting a "See You In Church" every week at another site. If anyone cares to look, and maybe give him an "attaboy", that'd probably be nice. Thanks.
