I've been following the Dunn Mountain Fire as well as Lazy H's fire near the cattle. I am scared for Hanta Yo, but I am sure she is scared enough already, she don't need my help. Those folks are in my prayers, as is the case with many others. Fire is such a wonderful thing, and a frightful thing. Fire is so helpful, and so destructive. It is something we look forward to when snow blows down our neck on a cold winter day, and something that we all dread when facing it as Hanta and neighbors are now. What makes the difference?? Control. Fire is hard to control once it gets away, but it matters soo very much that we must do it. Not unlike the tongue is it? God's word says as much in the book of James, chapter 3. The tongue can be so destructive, or so helpful. A wonderful thing or a frightful thing. A good word can be so encouraging and helpful, or it can do big time damage! The tongue is so hard to control, but we really must learn to do it. Upon that hinges our ability to impact others in a favorable way. Now, Shortgrass, read this—you need it!! It was no accident that God gave me two ears and one mouth. Have yourselves a good Sunday Mornin', and a good rest of the week too.

Thanks, Shortgrass, that was really, really good. There have been times when I really wished I'd kept my mouth SHUT. When will I learn? I don't know - prolly when I die.

I know this fire will make pastures even better, less trees, more grass. Even next summer we will hardly know the difference...excepting the corner posts of fences that have burned up.

Everything happens for a reason, and the Good Lord will see us through this. Whatever happens, it was meant to be. I really hope I learn from this.

Gotta go get hubby off the fireline...

Thanks, Shortgrass. Your God-inspired comparison between fire and the tongue is very pertinent. Our lives can be so much easier and less worrisome, if we let Jesus Christ be both our Fire Chief and our "tongue-in" Chief.

Thanks for the message Shortgrass, and prayers that Hanta Yo and others dealing with fires get some rain and weather cooperation soon.

No major fires in this area this year.... yet. Has been big fires every year somewhere in the county, though none that got any closer than 5 miles from my main place. A big fire a couple years ago got within a mile of one of my hayfields. So I've been very lucky!

Stay safe, Hanta Yo. The land will eventually heal itself. Unfortunately, the fences will not!

There have been a few times in my life when i was broadcasting instead of recieving. And once words get scattered about they are tough to get gathered up again. Specially when they have hurt somebody. Thank you Shortgrass, for a moment to contemplate, to remember and especially to work on thinking more and speakin' less. You are a fine man!
