Sometimes we have things happen in life that we do not like. Now we know and trust God that it is for the best, but still, these things tend to be joy stealers. When Jan got the C word, we did not feel good about that. When the lumpectomy was not enough, we did not like that. One set back after another, when we were begging of God that this would be it, but on they come. Did God abandon us? No, God helped us through each and every day of it. I think that the purpose is so that we learn to trust God even when we may not understand His ways. We recently had a funeral for a cousin that was diagnosed about the same time Jan was. Did God "spare us" or listen to our prayers or just like us better? Absolutly not; He helped my cousins deal one day at a time, just as He helped us. Every where I look, someone else has a more difficult situation than we do. Is that supposed to make me feel better? Well, it doesn't; the ol' pity party still lurks at the door. Maybe we should not be looking at how difficult the situation is that we or others face. Maybe we need to look at how good God is. If we hope in Him and His love and His perfect plans, and we see that this is not really about us, but about Him, we begin to feel a bit better. Yeah, if I dwell on Him I actually feel kinda good! I'll leave with this thought: If we love God, and have accepted Him, then this life is as bad as it gets--it gets better and better and downright great. Man's heart cannot imagine what He has laid up for us. Without Christ as savior, no matter how good you may have it here, it will only get worse and worse. The fire is not quenched, and the worm doesn't die; things may get pretty rough. Well as for me and my house, we're pretty excited about the future
. God has really impressed on my heart how quickly this life can end. Are you ready? Have a good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week too.
