GOOD SUNDAY MORNIN'

Sometimes we have things happen in life that we do not like. Now we know and trust God that it is for the best, but still, these things tend to be joy stealers. When Jan got the C word, we did not feel good about that. When the lumpectomy was not enough, we did not like that. One set back after another, when we were begging of God that this would be it, but on they come. Did God abandon us? No, God helped us through each and every day of it. I think that the purpose is so that we learn to trust God even when we may not understand His ways. We recently had a funeral for a cousin that was diagnosed about the same time Jan was. Did God "spare us" or listen to our prayers or just like us better? Absolutly not; He helped my cousins deal one day at a time, just as He helped us. Every where I look, someone else has a more difficult situation than we do. Is that supposed to make me feel better? Well, it doesn't; the ol' pity party still lurks at the door. Maybe we should not be looking at how difficult the situation is that we or others face. Maybe we need to look at how good God is. If we hope in Him and His love and His perfect plans, and we see that this is not really about us, but about Him, we begin to feel a bit better. Yeah, if I dwell on Him I actually feel kinda good! I'll leave with this thought: If we love God, and have accepted Him, then this life is as bad as it gets--it gets better and better and downright great. Man's heart cannot imagine what He has laid up for us. Without Christ as savior, no matter how good you may have it here, it will only get worse and worse. The fire is not quenched, and the worm doesn't die; things may get pretty rough. Well as for me and my house, we're pretty excited about the future :D :D :D. God has really impressed on my heart how quickly this life can end. Are you ready? Have a good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week too.

As always Shortgrass, your messages always seem to have extra meaning for certain people.

I would like to request that everyone add a young man by the name of Tim Bays from Wisconsin to their prayers. Tim is 16 or 17 years old and has been fighting Burkitt's lymphoma for nearly a year. Burkitt's is an aggressive cancer, but normally pretty treatable. Unfortunately for Tim, he just received word that his has come back for the third time and the prognosis isn't good. They've pretty well exhausted the treatment options with the first two rounds. He is a very strong young man, but this news has to be pretty difficult for him and his family.

What a neat and concise way to sum up the situation, Shortgrass. Your God-inspired thoughts always get the week off to a great start. Our continued prayers are with Jan and you, and we will also pray for the young man from Wisconsin.

Thanks for the encouraging message Shortgrass. All of us have crosses to bear in this life, some certainly seem more heavily laden than others. Yet He is always there to help all of us bear our burdens both large and small.

Jesus tell us His yoke is easy and burden light. Doesn't seem that way at times if we allow ourselves become distracted by our worldly troubles. But if we keep our focus on Him, we see that is true.

My prayers included for Jan and young Mr Bays. It's a great Sunday morning with a classic January thaw going here today!

Wow,that was a message this morning! Thank-you for always putting things into perpective for me :) As for our feelings,God understands our down times, helps us through to the good, cause they do always seem to come.

As always give Jan a huge hug from me,you and her enjoy the daylights outta your week.....Mairi :)

Shortgrass, thank you so much for your inspiring message. You always seem to hit the nail on the head. This week we lost my mom and it is a great loss. She was almost 92. But I am thankful for so many things that she was able to experience the last couple of months. Her first great grand daughter and her granddaughter, my daughter, were able to visit her and she got to hold the new baby. They live in Vancouver, BC so it's quite a trip. She had a great Christmas and she said it was one of the best ever. She always had a real fear of nursing homes and she didn't have to go to one. She was able to stay out on the farm in her own home up to the last four days thanks to great friends, neighbors and family. I know she is in better hands now but I sure hated to see her go. Thanks, Shortgrass, for emphasizing that there are better things ahead for her.

Don

Thank you for always having a sincere and important message every week. I hope you know that we all pray for your fine wife and want the best for you and her. My family and I will include Young Tim and Red Barn in our prayers tonight as well. Life is short and we'd all best enjoy it and live accordingly. God Bless all of ya!
