Green grass is just around the corner. I sure enjoy scattering cattle for the grazing season. At first when the cattle are turned onto fresh grass there is almost a frenzy in some of the cattle to get that grass gobbled up before it evaporates or something. After a bit, the cattle all settle into a methodical harvesting of the feed. Then one ol' cow will lie down, and begin to chew her cud. In the mater of 30 minutes or so, most of the cattle will have joined her. They will be taking time to digest and use that which they have taken in. Jaws will be working for awhile, then her head will be laid to the side, and the cow will rest contently. This is a rewarding and pleasant sight to the cattleman. In the 23rd Psalm, it states first that the Lord is our shepherd, secondly that there is no need to "want" and then that He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. Why is it that we humans have to be "made" to lie down? Can we not learn to take time to lie down - to digest and utilize what He, the good shepherd, has given us, with the knowledge that there will be more when it is needed? Green pastures are perfect for gathering in, yet maybe we are to utilize and enjoy what we are given and rest contently even in good circumstances for gathering in. Nope, we'll just keep pushin until He "makes" us! Well folks, have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a fine rest of the week.

Thanks Shortgrass. Good thoughts to ruminate on.

There's going to be more white than green in the near future here. Winter storm/blizzard warnings out for the next 24 - 48 hours. Time to batten down the hatches.

No time to rest today, is there John? We are preparing for a big one. The flooding is an extra bonus for us. Prayer will get us through. He owns the cattle on the hills.javascript:emoticon('')

Shortgrass: I really appreciate your messages. Yes I can't wait for the green grass! And I will try not to be such a slavedriver.
