A heifer just calved. A nice little bull with lots of vigor was soon up and looking for a handle. Well, as is so often the case, the heifer wouldn't stand still. She just kept circling around and around. The little booger couldn't get to the business end to save his soul. This went on for 20 minutes, but finally persistence paid off, and the calf got his breakfast. The Lord tells us to be persistent in our praying. I do not think for a minute, that God just finally gets tired of us asking for something and just gives it to us to shut us up. Rather I think that he wants to teach us persistence, and increase our gratitude when the praying is finally rewarded. I can look around the sanctuary of our little country church and see many people that were on the prayer list a few yeas ago, and on there for a few years too. Do not tire in praying for the lost in your community, persistence pays, ya know. Ask that little white bull calf in the corral! Have your self a good Sunday mornin', and a great rest of the week too.

Just got back from town. My MIL called about 5:30 and said she had fallen outside, and her wrist was bothering. Took her in, and sure enough it was broken, so she will be laid up a few weeks. Jan is having surgery again on Tues, this time to fuse her big toe joint as Arthur has pretty well ruined it. I'm still perkin just fine, but after nursing two women and my cows, I may be out of it too!! A little prayer support from our friends would be appreciated.

Shortgrass, you have to stay in good shape because there are a lot of gals depending on you!

Seems like it sure doesn't take much for some minor incident to cripple us up. I stubbed my toe a couple days ago. That is no big deal, but I can't believe how the toe swelled up and hurt after being on my feet the first day. Better now. Kinda messed up the nail and with my blood thinner I bleed and bruise quite easily. This too shall pass.

Just walking or getting in and out of the tractor is especially hazardous with all the slick mud, snow, and ice. Be careful out there!

John SD, I thought probably your toe had "been on your feet" for over fifty years, and that this wasn't just the first day. Sorry, couldn't resist. :-) Hope you heal fast.

Shortgrass, thanks for the message about persistence paying off. It really does, but sometimes it is easy to give up too quickly.

Like John SD said, you take care of yourself. There are many people depending on you, even though that thought can be overwhelming at times. The Good Lord will keep you strong. You and your family are in our prayers. Thanks so much for the Sunday morning bits of God-given wisdom that you put on Ranchers.Net. Keep the Faith. :-)

Enjoyed your thoughts as always! :D Hope all goes well with the surgery, the wrist and the calf. And i hope John's toe heals fine too! I have a good friend who really struggles with mental issues. He had real bad depression and obsessive compulsive disorder which has caused him to withdrawl from church and town and even disable him from his job. I was asked to lead some of the men at church and I felt a really strong feeling that Ryan needed to assist me. But i knew he wasn't able to come out to church or activities. So i looked at everyone else available but kept coming back to Ryan. Finally i went to visit with him. He said he'd pray on it and asked me to do the same but to not expect him to be able to do it. When he called a few days later to say he would do his best at the task, well, we both shed some tears! :D He has been coming back to church for a year and a half and has improved in all aspects of his life! He and his wife recently welcomed twin girls to their family! :D I can backup Shortgrass when he tells ya to be persistent and patient and never give up on people! :D
