We sorted cattle today to go to grass. My neighbor and daughter helped. I noticed my neighbors horse was getting a little gimpy. I asked if his pony was going to be alright, and his reply was "it's a long way from his heart." Indeed, as the work went on, I saw Concho head a good many pairs, and none got by. I was reminded of how many times that I may not be on top of my game, and in fact a little off (and I'll bet you may be there too), but what our Lord needs is a willing heart. Just as Concho was willing to head a cow in spite of some pain, we must be willing to serve our Lord and our church in spite of some inconvience or lack of skills. Where is your heart at with regards to our Lord, Jesus Christ? Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a fine rest of the week too.

Oh, by the way Concho will get Sunday off, and a lot of time next week too as Jason farms! He'll be fine.
 
Thanks, Shortgrass. Sometimes we need to just keep on keeping on. Persistance pays. Everything just naturally goes better, though, if we include the Good Lord as part of the process.

In this neck of the woods, we are in desperate need of a rain. We can whine, cajole, and cuss 'til we are blue in the face, but until the Good Lord sees fit to send a rain, it ain't going to happen. Therefore praying for a rain seems to be the better option. Part of the prayer should be for us to be given patience until a rain comes, and to be given alternative solutions if it continues to be dry. After all, He has the final word, and we are at best merely stewards of His land and cattle.

Shortgrass, Concho and I have something in common. I sure have been a bit gimpy and haven't been at the top of my game lately either. Unlike Concho, my reason for that definitely was very close to my heart.

After a regular scheduled cardio checkup I was given the green light by dr and insurance to change out my heart pacemaker this week. I've had it over 6 years and the battery has served its useful life as intended.

The difference in the way I feel is somewhat comparable to using a flashlight with a new battery vs a flashlight with a run down battery that puts out a dim light.

My sister had parked her car in one of the furtherest away rows in the hospital parking lot when she took me in. All downhill from the car to the hospital. All uphill from the hospital to the car. I had been parking in the same area for my pre-op visits. That uphill walk from the building to the car always left me winded when I got to the car. On my maiden voyage exiting the building after the pacer replacement the same uphill walk was no big deal at all.

Although I'm a bit sore yet from the flesh wound, I think the pacer change has perked me and my heart up a bit. The operation itself was a snap. Outpatient surgery that lasted less than an hour. Took longer to get me ready and about an hour in the recovery room. The worst pain which wasn't much at all was getting the IV put in my hand. Didn't need Tylenol or anything afterwards.

Sorry to kinda sidetrack your Sunday post with so much about ME! With a bit more time to heal I should soon be back on top of my game and my heart will be in the right place. Just like Concho! :wink:
 
Good for you, John. If that ol' ticker ain't right, we ain't right. Heart desease has sure made some major strides to improve the quality of our lives. If our heart is right with God, it sure improves the quality of not only our life, but the lives of all we brush shoulders with. Glad you are feeling lots stronger.
 
Its funny how your Sunday posts all too often are a reflection of what I needed after my week...thx so much!!!

Thanks Shortgrass and John, I'm glad your "tuneup" went well. I'm curious....your last one lasted 6 years. With the technological advances, how long is this new on projected to run?
 
Richard, I don't know how long this one will last. I think the answer is "It depends" :wink:

I'm sure there are a lot of people out there with pacers but not totally dependent on it who can get 10 yrs out of a battery.

During the changeover the crew was hoping to get a beat or two out of my heart while they made the swap. I don't know if that happened or they had to jump start me again. I was wired up with the booster cables ready in case :roll:
 
Thanks Shortgrass, some times I find it all to easy to weaken when the Lord asks me to do something only to regret it and have to ask forgiveness later when He shows me what I could have done.

John I wish you well with the new pacemaker, may it help keep you around for many years to come.
