It was February of 1988. Jo Wondergem was having her 80th birthday. In the Sunday service, the pastor asked what advice she might like to offer us younger people. Because of my respect for her, and the simple advice she offered, I remember the incident vividly. Her advice was simply "take care of your friends." Truly friends are a wonderful gift of God, and His way to show us his love and compassion "with skin on." Family was Gods first and the basic structure of a disciplined society. We need to take care of family relations also. A family is to be a source of love and acceptance, of strength and encouragement, and of help and hope. Too often we see someone forfeit all that because of selfish ambitions or jealousy. Advice from this ol' cout would be take care of your friends and family. I believe that same advice might be found in the pages of that ol' leatherbound book that I read from. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week too.
