Black cattle, Hereford cattle, white cattle, red cattle, Shorthorn guys, and Longhorn guys............Cattle are the common thread that have drawn us all to this web site. This is a place where people who love cattle gather. Years ago a feller named Peter loved the sea. He was a fisherman; he loved the sea, the nets, the boats, and the fish. One day the Lord asked him, Peter do you love me more than these (referring to the fish)? Peter said "sure, Lord, I love you." The Lord says something like "That was not the question, the question is do you love me MORE than these?" Peter finally had to decide if God just had a place of significance, or if He had the place of preeminence in his life. Churches across America are anemic. They are full of folks who want God to have a place of significance, but they are not sold out to Him. America needs a revival, and you need to be part of it. Is Christ your life, or is He just "important"? Have you given your life-lock stock and barrel- to Him? That is what He did for you. So His question to us remains the same in 2009-- "Do you love me MORE than these (cattle, land, or you fill in the blank)?" Well have yourselves a good and a Godly Sunday mornin'.

God Bless us , one and all !! I also pray for our country which is being taken over by radicals !!!

Shortgrass, as always thanks for your message on this beautiful fall Sunday morning! As much as Peter loved fishing he did drop everything - lock, stock, and barrel - to follow Jesus. By doing so Peter is making a real strong statement of faith.

We as cattle ranchers aren't usually asked to make such a dramatic change in our lives as Peter did without knowing what we are getting into. Although Peter's faith was challenged at times he was given the faith and strength to go on and do what the Lord wanted him to do. As the Lord does with us.

We've discussed this subject right in our house with other believers.
Thanks for the message shortgrass. It's certainly something to think
long and hard about. Amazing what idols we can 'put before God'...
and really not know we are doing it--until it is/was pointed out...

I look at it from the point of view that God owns the cows and the crop and the land and I work every day for Him.

Nothing wrong with owning cows or a fishing boat. But if it's time to go do something else that he is calling you to, then it can become a bit of a problem.

We have a neighbor that leases his ranch out and uses it to support him as a missionary and another that just grain farms and helps out wherever in the world they are needed letting the farm support such work. For me I am happy to work in the mission field right here at home as well as support those that were called elsewhere.

Your message fits right in with what some others have been saying that revival will begin in the small rural churches. We need to be open to His voice to be a part of something great.
