This is a comment by Bob M on last weeks Good Sunday Mornin':

("I have never had a car accident but I have had many horse accidents and tipped over two tractors without very much damage to me but the closest call I ever had was when I was visiting a family when in my youth.

After a picnic all the kids my age decided to go swimming in a dam on La Creek. The rest were all talented swimmers. I could duck paddle a few feet but didn't ever want to get far from shore. The rest were out quite a ways in deep water. I was wading up to my waste and then swam a short distance and planned to stand up and rest, When I stood up I went under. I came to the top but didn't have the ability to go far and, again, stood up to go under. I managed to come to the top once more and thought I was a goner so that time I stood up I held my hands in the air in case someone might see where I was. That time I was in waste deep water again! I evidently had gotten into the old creek bed and God stirred me in the right direction!

I have often thought how great and wonderful a life I'd have missed if I had gone down once more! I have thought many times that God must have had some kind of a purpose for keeping me around these many years. I Undoubtedly have disappointed him more than once!

Add me to your list, Short Grass, as one who appreciates your weekly messages! Bob M")

I would say add me as one who appreciates you and your comments. Ever hear the saying "couldn't see the forest for the trees?" Sometimes we need to back up and see a bigger picture than the obvious. Bob, you would have missed a great and wonderful life. Think of how much the rest of the world would have missed. Soapweed, offspring and siblings would have missed life too. And how much would many, many lives missed because of you and yours not touching our lives? Our lives involve so much more than just enjoying our own. I believe we should do that, but also that we should make a conscious effort to help and encourage others along the way at every opportunity. My children have done things that have disappointed me, but I would never feel disappointed in my children; I am actually quite pleased with them. Likewise, Bob, I am confident that God Is quite pleased in His adopted son, that being yourself. I am sure glad that He has given you a life that has touched mine. That is your purpose, as well as mine. Thanks for bringing that up, and have a good Sunday mornin'!

Thanks, Shortgrass. Bob M has definitely influenced my life, and I thank him for even making it possible. It is always interesting to see God's plan in how everything comes together. My dad's brother and my mom's brother were Army buddies serving together in Japan during World War II. When the War was over and they parted ways, they made a pact to attend each others' weddings, if and when those times occurred. My dad's brother married a lady from Greeley, Colorado in 1949. His Army buddy from Minnesota attended the wedding and brought along his sister as company for the trip. It was Labor Day week-end and she had extra time off from her job as a secretary in a Minneapolis bank. She met my dad; they had a long-distance romance mainly by letter, and they were married the following year.

It is a beautiful night out. The wind blew hard all of yesterday, but it has diminished to a very light breeze. A big nearly full moon lights the sky, and the stars are twinkling merrily. The temperature reads 30 degrees, and the cows are lying around chewing their cuds contentedly. God made a wonderful world, and I thank Him for it. :-)

While I have way too many faults and sins to want to go meet the Lord right away, It will be amazing to look back at all the times His Hand sheltered me or protected me or corrected me and I didnt realize it here. I know he's done a lot more than I'll ever be able to thank him for. Thanks to you Shortgrass for the inspiration. Thanks to Bob M. for the neat story to tie it all together. Thanks to my parents for providing the solid foundation for a wonderful life. And Thanks to Him for the unconditional love. :D

Thankyou, Shortgrass, for the complimentary remarks about myself and my family. I feel very blessed to have lived from the horse and buggy to the space age in Rural America. We have had the opportunity and freedom to attain our goals almost without limits.

One of my grandfathers came from England to Toronto to this area. I heard him say many times, "If I could live my life again I would follow the same trail out to the Sandhills of Nebraska!"

We appreciate your weekly messages of optomism in these unpredictable times. If we, as a nation, rely on God as our Guide and pick our leaders with that in mind greater things are still ahead! Your inflendce in that direction is greatly appreciated! Thankyou, Shortgrass!
