My daughter lost a calf on a six year old cow. Since I have better facilities, she called to see if I would graft a calf for her. She skinned the dead one, loaded the cow, and hauled her to my place. We aced the cow, went and picked up a twin from a neighbor, sewed the skin on the calf, and backed the calf up to the cow so she would smell the hide first. When I turned loose of the calf's head, it went to sucking, and the cow went to carrying on as if her own calf had resurrected. The job was done. That cow loves her adopted baby as much as if it was her own. My daughter then points out that we have been adopted into the family of God, and He loves us as much as His own Son. It was His Son whose blood was shed to pay for our sin. The wages of sin is death, and life is in the blood, so it requires a blood sacrifice. Nothing we can do or have done will ever merit such a sacrifice on the part of the Father or Son, but if we simply ask Him to apply that blood to cover our sins, He will do that, and we will be adopted and joint heirs with the first born Son. What a gift! What love! Have a good Sunday mornin'. And a great rest of the week too. Thanks, Sarah for the idea for Good Sunday Mornin'.
