Good Sunday Mornin'

We have a Bible study with a neighbor on a regular basis. Recently Mark raised the question of how people came to know the Lord before the Bible was written. The answer has to be that faith in God was passed from one generation to another. Person to person communication is, in fact, how Jesus chose to reach the disciples who in turn would establish the body of believers we call the church. The all knowing and all powerful God chose to reach men with a man, Jesus Christ because that is by far the best method. As we discussed the matter, we came to the conclusion that, although a very helpful tool for personal growth, the Bible itself has led very few people to the Lord. It still is people to people communication that is the key. I suspect that most of us who know the Lord as personal savior will say that it was a person, perhaps a mom or dad, or as in my case, a grandparent, a Sunday school teacher, pastor or friend that showed us "Jesus with skin on" and made us want to know Him personally. If your descendants are to know Christ, do not leave it up to the Bible lying on the table to show them. Don't depend on the Church. Don't say "my kids may make their own choice" while modeling the wrong choice. Your children must indeed make their own choice, but the world will show them one way, you must show them another, or they have nothing to chose between. Fathers and mothers, show your children, grandparents show your grandkids what a difference He has made in your life. Show them prayer and Bible study on a daily basis makes a daily difference. Do this and you will have a Good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week, and your decendants will have life and life abundantly!

A person paid a great compliment to a guy who had died when speaking at his funeral. Something along the lines of, "Knowing the deceased was like knowing Christ in a small way". I hope people who know me dont think of the devil instead. Shortgrass is very right though. Wonder what people, especially family, see when they look at how we live and act and speak. Do we bring them closer or further from the Lord and his healing Grace? Thanks for the awesome inspiration my Colorado friend! :D

Another great message. I wonder how many you have encouraged to our Savior through this site. I'll bet a few. Continued success to you and yours.

Thank you Shortgrass for this week's message, it's a good one. We can all learn to be better role models & leaders so we are not stumbling blocks for others.

Have a great week folks. :-)

another good message,,the pastor that handed me my first Bible, then told me i could put it in the front seat of my pick-up,in my john deere tractor,or take it with me where ever i went, but i would probably not understand it UNTLL i met the author!!i have always remembered that.

Today our pastor brought up the importance of taking time and making time for individual and family prayer. That reminded me of when I was a kid. We would be going somewhere and Dad would turn off the car radio and lead the family in prayer of a 5 decade rosary. It was something he did every day, sometimes alone, sometimes with the family.

As a kid I thought praying while going down the road in a car was boring. I would rather have listened to the radio, but now as an adult I can see the purpose. The family that prays together, stays together. Shortgrass, thanks for the much needed reminder.

I remember(and I was little) my Dad singing "Away in a Manger" in church, and thinking maybe it was time to start listening to what was going on. Through the next few years I learned by example, how that many hogs will make a believer out of you. But I figured out the believing came first... Thank you for a timeless lesson Shortgrass.
