Thanksgiving Day 2010. I thank God that He is a part of my life. "Black Friday" is about as big a holiday as Thanksgiving. I think of the Israelites in the wilderness. God had delivered them from bondage and provided their every need one day at a time in the form of manna. The people began to complain about their lack. They enjoyed leechs and garlic in Egypt. They wanted some meat! They seem to have forgotten the bondage that had accompanied the leechs and garlic. God gave them meat until it ran out their nostrils. Black Friday find us out getting more and more, because it's a good deal. We forget the bondage that accompanies our many toys. Do we own them, or do they own us? I wish I was immune to this, but alas, even God's people struggle with being content with God's simple blessing of daily care. Well have a good Sunday mornin' and a good rest of the week too. Oh, and remember to enjoy the Lord today.

Shortgrass, your message today is simply profound and goes totally against our human nature. I am constantly plagued by the thought that perhaps we have become expert at rationalizing away teachings of Jesus that he meant for us to take literally- our attitude toward possessions being one of those.

Amen! As I have gained a little bit of age, my wants have sure gotten smaller. Like a song by Trace Adkins, "All I Need" is a healthy family and a happy one and I am golden.

Awesome message. The "Native" and I were just talking about that very thing yesterday. It is not supposed to be about what you have, but ^WHO ^ you know.

What is funny is I have had my tree up since the second week in Oct. Gifts bought through out the year are wrapped under the tree or mailed out.
I am enjoying the "season"
I am seeing people around me start to stress and get upset with the pressure of Black Friday ......

I still find myself thinking I "have to" go buy something..... I think I will stop watching TV and just listen to my Christmas Music
