Have you ever come to a fork in the trail and not been sure which way was right? Psalms 23:3 says "He leadeth me." Pretty short, simple statement, but it is packed with meaning. Have you ever been confused, under stress or tired and even small decisions seemed like a challenge. Welcome to my world! If God is our shepherd, he will guide us the right way. We reach a fork in the trail and wonder which way, then He says "Trust me, and I'll lead you. Think about the author, David. David was anointed to be king, rose rapidly in Saul's government, and sure looked like God was just working everything out so well for him. Then Saul turns on him, he becomes a fugitive, and I'll bet he felt abandoned and just plain confused. His world fell apart. "What did I do," he wonders. God, are you watching? He, who has conducted himself so wisely, the scripture stresses several times, makes, what appears to me, a dumb mistake. He runs to Gath (Goliath's home town). He jumps out of the frying pan into the fire. God does or has not abandoned him, he escapes Gath, and then people and family start coming to him. He then seems to get his ducks in a row, and makes better choices. He realizes that he did nothing wrong, and although many men are against him, God is for him (Psalms 52, written when he was in Gath, makes that apparent). God was leading him just where he was supposed to go, but I'll bet David was wondering at times. He turned to God, trusted Him, and did what he had to. I don't know about ya'all, but I need a Shepherd to lead me, especially if it is the Good Shepherd. Just to be guided down the right path by the creator of the universe – thats pretty good stuff! Have a good Sunday mornin'.
