First new poem I've written in 10 or more years:

IF THEY COULD ONLY UNDERSTAND

Teaching Sunday School is a thankless job; if people only knew
The commitment time and energy and all the little things we do......

It sure is a lot of work; If people could only understand
The joy of a child as God's love they comprehend,

They would know just why we do it; to watch a boy become a man
And place his hand in God's, and know you had played a hand.

And he will find, among those little girls, a woman to come along beside,
A love will bloom and blossom, and she will be his loving bride.

You watch them build a home on things they learned from you.
Not so much the things you said, as the little things you do.

You know how words go in one ear and through the other they depart,
But you know some things you do will lodge deep within their heart.

They will face trials and temptations, unsure of what to do,
And they will find victory in Jesus, and they will think of you.

And the Lord you find so dear will be very dear to them, too
It will be the thing they learned - from you - in Sunday School.

And they will give to you all the things you gave to them,
And folks would stand in line if they could only understand........

On second thought, teaching Sunday School in not a thankless job;
It is an honor. It is a privilege. It is a service to our God!

Very nice Shortgrass.

At the risk of being sacrilegious, anyone can be religious..... it takes a special person to be a Christian.

You are truly one of them. :tiphat:
