We just got home from putting on a Valentine Banquet and movie with the Youth Group. Lots of work. Jan catches the brunt of it, but good neighbors do more than their share, and then the kids. Several girls made table decorations and came over to the house last night to make the salads. The girls came in at 3:00 and peeled spuds and helped prepare the meal. They filled plates while the guys served tables. Everyone tore down and cleaned up. The clean up is always when the more immature lose interest. I could sure see a difference between this years and last. The kids all worked until the clean-up was over. They are growing, and growing in the Lord! There are a lot of irresponsible youth in our nation, but there are lots of strong Christian young people ready to take the helm. It is very important for us to pass the torch from generation to generation. Those kids are a comfort to me. They are stronger in their faith than I was at their age. Well, enough of my ramblin' – have a good Sunday mornin', and God bless……

Good morning Shortgrass and another great post.

It seems more than ever that youngsters need strong roots to withstand the
storms of evil that they face these days.

Be safe & God Bless

You and Jan are doing a wonderful service in the lives of these young people. They are learning responsibility, and coming to know the Lord by your works. Thanks for your efforts with the kids, and thanks for another nice Sunday morning message.

and thank-you for your EFFORT"S with us older aleve taking, darn near out of gas folks as well

You will never know, in this life, how much impact you are having through your work. Although sometimes you might see earlier results as did one young lady from our congregation.

Being the very outgoing type, she made a wide circle of friends at high school. Some of those friends started coming to youth events and, eventually, church services with her and became an integral part of the youth group.

After taking part in youth and church activities for a few years, one young lady commented on the difference that it made in her life compared to her friends who did not come with her - "If I had not started hanging out with Angie and her friends, I'd likely be pregnant and doing drugs like the rest of my friends".

She had been faced with a time of decision making.

Now this young girl's parents have taken an interest in matters of faith and we have been able to show them in very practical ways what it means to be disciples who care for the needs of those around us.

So there you go Shortgrass - you keep on sowing the seed and leave the growing of it up the the Master! It's all his anyway.

I hope i don't put you on the spot Shortgrass but i gotta tell ya something. In a world where finding people to look up to is more and more difficult, you stand out. You are the kind of man i hope to become. Whenever you post a comment it's well thought out, never mean or arrogant and always spot on. You take time from your busy life and ranch to help kids and help us here by your beautiful sunday morning thoughts. You are the kind of guy we'd all love to have as a neighbor and a friend. Thanks a bunch for your example and your kindness. :D
