It foggy here on the short grass prairie of Colorado this morning. Visibility is around 100 yards. I can't see where I am going, but I can see where I am at. As I was reading Paul's letter to Timothy (II Tim 1:1) Paul simply identifies himself as Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God. it is a blessing from God to know you are where God want you to be, doing what He wants you to do. All too often we complicate that; we are trying to see where God wants us to go, when He wants us to see where we are at. I am here in the house with my wife, I am still His servant, called by Him to serve Him. I guess I should be nice to my wife right now! Maybe I should quit belly achin' about whatever don't suit me! When I saw some requests for this thread last week, I thought to myself, "I guess I could do that." We are where we are, and can be Christ's servant where ever we are, and who ever we are with. We are in fact called to be just that - His servant. Even when I am alone in the pasture, if no other person is there, I am alone with the boss. I am still His servant, I need to be aware of His presence; maybe I should talk to him, to understand what the task at hand is. Something to chew on this week. Have a good Sunday mornin'.

Foggy here as well in the Big Muddy Valley of southern Saskatchewan.
Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, although we had a bit of a rough summer with a bad hail storm hitting our yard and my Dad having to move to a nursing home, things are slowly getting repaired and Dad is feeling better and settling in to life at the home.
We have been blessed.
 
You know only three of us have replied but last i looked 152 viewed this thread , lots of churches don't have near that many sitting in the pews.
That brings a lot of light to quite a few people.
 
Thanks Shortgrass. You, being a rancher, living and or working in a rural area, many people may be able to relate at least a bit better to what you have to say about life from your standpoint of some level of 'being in our shoes', imo.

My minister, a young lady from a city, really seems to be enjoying her huge parish, about 140 miles from the church to the south, to the church to the north, with two in between, ALL served each Sunday, I believe by her choice. She grew up in a much more populous area and seems to be adjusting well to our region and our people. One big plus is that we are always very thankful to have a pastor willing to serve our situation, being four distinct but somewhat different congregations, with two churches being in small towns one very isolated and far from any town, the other is alongside a hiway and a 'mini' town, a cluster of a few homes/farms.

My church, in the smaller of the two organized municipalities, had 16 in attendance yesterday...….and considered it a pretty good crowd! On a recent Sunday, there were only 8 of us. Usually, when that happens, we do a little better the next Sunday. Sunday School started for the year yesterday, so probably will have better attendance till school is out next spring. Thinking about this makes me curious as to how many members our total parish actually serves. Hope I remember to ask next Sunday!

Shortgrass, I believe you will be another encouraging voice in the 'wilderness of this world' whenever you can give us a few words of encouragement to enrich our understanding of faith filled lives.

Thanks, Shortgrass. You haven't lost your touch, as you came up with a good message as always. It's kind of a cold rainy dreary week in these parts, but God's love and grace shine through no matter what. Thanks for your uplifting thoughts.
 
Thank you for sharing your wise words of inspiration with us, Shortgrass. I read this first thing Sunday morning and just forgot to post my appreciation for your efforts. I don't post much any more, but I still read Ranchers every day. Your Good Sunday Mornin' is something that I have really missed. It's a great way to start out a Sunday and start out the week.
 
Thanks a bunch for your Sunday morning inspiration! I really miss it. I know its a lot of work but i'd enjoy reading it weekly. Its a true story that we all need to "Bloom where we are planted", like Paul talked about. Thanks much amigo!
