Does anyone know what the going rate is to take cows in with year round care? I got about 500 acres offered to me but do not have enough cows of mine own to stock it right now and I do not want to but cows. I just want to keep back heifers and build my own herd. However i do not want to turn down the land cause land is hard to come across in northwest Oklahoma, so i am thinking about take cows. How does a guy charge for that. I do not want to sub-lease. Any opinions? Thanks for the thougths

Usually varies from different areas. Here I charge 20 dollars per month for six months may thru october then 12 dollars the other six months. They buy the hay from me at going rate and supplies the mineral. I supply salt and all the labour

$375 to $400 to run a cow for a year around here. You might have trouble finding someone to do it for that. While I still think it is on the high side. There are some who pay $40 per month to summer a cow-calf.
