Finally got my new bull delivered...I have never bought a bull sight unseen, but once I got him off the trailer and walked him around I am VERY pleased

felt like a kid at Christmas waiting on him, but man am I ever ready for next years calf crop !

Lothair Montana. Ace described him real well, saw pics of his herd bulls, and the only thing wrong is I should have drove up there to get him....maybe the next time!
would love to see that country

Man, that a goodlookin boy! Reminds me when I work at a big pure bred breeder in vero beach that raised them. They were so pertular about there horn's bein the same, they would clamp on weights to adjust them. Is that still done? We faught pink eye, rope and docterin in the pasture. Sure was fun.

I thought you bought a bull at Ridder's?

Ace has good cattle. I don't think he'd steer you in the wrong direction.

What'd it cost to get him delivered? How old is he?

my brother in law bought a Ridders bull

delivery was thrown in for paying up front

coming two year old. I really like the potential he shows..looking at his herd sires i am real impressed!

the last two bulls I bought were from Oleens in Faulun Kansas...the semi that unloaded this bull was headed to Oleens for the next stop !

I felt like Ace was pretty honest and upfront. problem is waiting till next year to see the results!

He has BULL written all over him! :D I love a good Horned Hereford. Must be in my DNA as Grandpa Ekker raised them. I bought a bull Saturday and will get some pictures up soon. Good job Jigs! Hope the wait til next spring is worth it!

he did make it... i was starting to wonder if they got delayed or something. Looks like he got nice a dirty on the trip down. he must have got p*ssed on abit in that second picture his left front sholder looks like the hair is rubbed off or something.

we couldn't have put many more bulls on that truck - it was tight. never tried to load bulls down in the nose of a cattle pot before. helped load bulls over at valier that day and it probably took a good half our to get five bulls down in the nose of that pot.

glad to see that bull made it fine and i hope he settles in well. that bull has as good as a disposition as they come - my boys enjoyed scratching that bull.

i tell you what - its just as exciting to send bulls sight unseen to new areas and new people as it is buying them. i want to thank you for the business and i know its a difficult deal to put your faith in a person half way across the country. i'll keep in touch and i look forward to updates on him. thanks again matt!

the wife was not too sure about the idea of buying with out looking first, but I think I have her ready for a trip to Montana to see your spread now!

I will get a few pics once I get him out on grass and he "shines up" a bit

my two youngest were real excited to tell be they got to pet him this morning!

the kids named him Ace ! LOL

He is a good lookin bull Jigs, lotta horned cattle south of San Antonio, mostly polled up here, lots of them old folks south believe horned cows can protect their calves better, anyway good lookin bull for sure,he's got depth length and straight backed for sure.
good luck

He's a deep sided rascal. Can you get a picture of him standing still Jigs?

Has he ever had any grain H76?

the bull program is outlined on my website - pretty simple. I don't claim to be a pure forage operation thru and thru on everything except the females. The females never see grain and never see a bunk and most winters they lick snow all winter and rustle all days possible. I just finished moving yearlings off winter pasture to their early spring grass that has piped water on it. Same with the cows - i moved them this morning home from winter ground to calving ground and those girls got their first drink in liquid form as the snow started to melt and pool within the last 10 days - now they will aslo be on piped water and good rye grass which holds its protein well over dormancy. This year the long yearling bulls started their deal December 2nd off of native grass and go into a 40 acre pasture of rye grass and they get self fed alfalfa/brome grass hay (35%alfalfa/65%brome) and were hand fed 5 lbs of rolled corn/canola meal (75/25) up until the 20th of February and i cut it back to 2.5lbs of the corn/canola meal and they will come completely off grain this week and all be gone by April 1st. as calves they were fed the exact same except they got 2.5 lbs of whole oats from weaning thru mid april and went straight to grass. just grow them out here - don't have the desire to set any yearling records and it gives you a truer picture in my opinion.

I had been on your website but the part that connected there was your heifer culling procedure. I like the idea but I doubt any would survive that method here. :D
That bull is in darn good condition for what he's been developed on. Would he weigh 14-1500 lbs?
