Got Our Hounds!!!

P1010309.jpg

Here's 'Ruby' I can't bel;ieve how strong she is for her size. Don't worry naysayers don't fizz much on me.

Ahh, this old Pyr is a good dog... She got hit by a car before we got and we took her in to be a yard guard dog for my wife's poultry.. She does a real good job and protects any bottle babies we have too. The little pups are only 10 weeks old or so (1 week younger than my son so I should do the math) and their bark isn't too bad as long as the windows are closed. When they go off and the windows are open it is a sound, gets the Kelpies going usually too.. Our old senior dogs just lift their heads up and yawn... Nothing much gets them going at 2 am.

I love my dogs..... Nothing much better than them to be honest... Always thought about a hound when I was growing up but I think that will have to wait.. Too many dogs.

Hey Nr ruby is about the same color as my brother Garths hounds one is quite dark and the other is a bit lighter than her. He has 2 males and there names are Starsky and Hutch  He uses them for Hunting training them on racoons and such .They are hilarious because they are still quite gangly pups. But he's strick with them they are only aloud to sound when hunting .

HMW, never raised BlueTicks...but my mom raised for YEARS and YEARS black & tan coon hounds!!

To be honest if I don't hear hounds somewhere.....something is missing!!!

I begin to wonder ' what's wrong"!!!

It can't be anyworse than when the Pyr decides to come in close to the house and bark its head off at 3am when you are sound asleep.... Oh, and of course my lovely, beautful, kind and understanding wife decided that we needed a couple more so now the old dog goes off and the two anatolian pups join in... Enough to make you shoot out of bed like a dart until your relize the dogs are barking at a semi 3 miles away.
I've made many a trip to the pen in a pair of cowboy boots and underwear, picking up my weapon of choice out of the yard on the way. Rake, stick, shovel, ...5 gallon bucket, you name it. It finally got when the door opened in the middle of the night the dogs would knock the back of their dog house nearly trying to get hid.

Skookum is six months old-his Daddy is a big dog 110 pounds in hunting shape-he's won three trials in Montana and two in Alberta with him for what that's worth lol. I can't belive how strong they are for their size.

Too bad you couldnt teach them to root out R-calf members, arent they just like terrorists?

I've been walking them a couple miles a day for exercise-not killing this old tub a lard either. Last night a yote ran across in front of us-got pretty interesting when we crossed his scent line. I wanted to unleash the hounds and they were ready to go lol. Chasing a yote through the bush in 85 above weather wasn't my idea of fun.
