Last Friday Britt and I started building a mile of new 4 wire fence. We strung some wire got some anchor posts pounded and started pounding line posts. We ran out of material about 5:30 so came home for supper and saddled up for a ride. Britt's young mare never made a misstep got on at the barn rode up the sorting alley and out to the little pasture behind the house. She walked across some water and got to dry ground and blew up. Bucked hard and Britt went off over her head and into a little ditch. Scratched up her face a bit but broke her arm right up by the shoulder. The bone hasn't moved so they don't think she will need surgery but will be out of commission for at least 2 months. My fencing slowed up but my 7 month pregnant oldest daughter and Colt came home and drove the pounder truck for a couple goes and Tam came and drove to finish up the pounding. Lots of walking stapling 4 wire by myself and the truck or quad was always at the wrong end of the fence. Those 4 shiny wires on new posts looks darn nice after the old fence that was built about 1910.
