I've always really appreciated cows with great maternal instincts. In our October Calvers, we had two that dropped twins and went right to raising them. The solid Black is actually a first calf heifer. We are on irrigated pasture here and good winter groceries. Twins usually do pretty well.

Here's two first calf heifers fighting over each others calves. The first cow to calve had the brockle coming over trying to steal hers. Notice she kind of gave up when she laid down to have hers. I say kind of in that I had to grab a panel and fight to separate these two. Females all hormoned up can be an issue ;-}

That is a nice black heifer....really nice!

Yep, she's kind of became my favorite. I picked her out of a friends cast offs. He felt she was just a little too small.. We calve at different times so I took her and gave her a few more moths to grow. She has a really great disposition...

I'll catch these two cows with each others calves on them BTW. Sharing group I guess ;-}

Sure glad I taught you how to post pictures. :wink: :D :lol:

I'm just a little jealous of your "Winter" pasture. Mine is a little whiter. :( :cowboy:

Me too on the lessons, LOL... Yep, this is kind of the Banana belt. I have some Willamette Valley pastures I'm excited to see how early I can turn out on tis year as well.

So you were teasing us...........

I just learned how to post pictures here again.

:D You are ahead of me. I haven't figured out how...I could do it when RA was here because he used something besides photobucket.
Speaking of R A.....he's missing in action. Wonder what he is up to now?
