The Longest Ride, with Scott Eastwood.

Peach and I saw this movie in Valentine last night, and really enjoyed it. I don't recommend very many movies, but would go out on a limb and put in a good word for this one.

we saw it too, I think the lead actors were pretty weak, but the "memory lane" love story was very captivating.... it was a real good show. the theater we have near us is weird, cost more for pop/ popcorn than movie tickets !

I think he is the son of Clint. I've been wondering about this movie, so thanks, Soap, for
your recommendation.

Here in SE Montana the nearest movie theater is over 50 miles away, so we don't go.
In Spearfish, SD, the pop and popcorn there too, costs more that the tickets for seniors.

The reason the tickets around here are inexpensive is the theater must give the movie distributor 80% of the gate so they want to hold that price down to get you in then they make their profit from the concession stand.

We were nearly late for the movie, so refrained from the pop and popcorn. Adult movie tickets were $7.50 each, and after the movie we had supper at Subway for $16 plus a little change. Our Ford Fusion gets about 34 miles per gallon, so the 120 mile round trip didn't hit us too hard for gas money. It was a fun night out for a couple of old people. :-)

Sounds like it was a hot time in the old town...... :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

I always loved the movies. I worked selling tickets when in high school.
The guy that owned the theatre was a Jew and he wound up almost owning the town.
Very interesting fellow. I liked him a lot.

First & last movie I've seen in a theater in decades was Lone Survivor, and that was only because I'd met Marcus Luttrell a couple of years ago, before the movie. For everything else, there's Netflix. I'm almost through the entire series of Sons of Anarchy, and I'm really enjoying it.

I'm sorry you had to eat at Subway, Soap. That has to be the poorest excuse for a franchised eating establishment, EVER. We have one here in our little slice of heaven, and about once a month I find myself eating their fare, wondering what I've done to deserve it. Their ice cream is good, but horribly expensive. My son loves Subway, though. A couple of the little girlies that work there have crushes on him, so if the owner isn't around, they load his sandwich up with about 3 times more meat than they give anybody else.

I used to not like Subway at all, because I'd always have them put on everything available to get my money's worth. Now my choice is flat bread, the meat (usually grilled chicken), and then only lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sweet onion dressing. If all the peppers and olives get left off, the sandwich is actually quite good.

Gave up on movies about 15+ years ago. The last one was All The Pretty Horses which was pretty good tho` as usual, not as good as the book. We had to endure about 20 minutes of "trailers" for upcoming movies & the sound system just about blasted us out of our seats. Of course there are ticket prices of $12.50 and as others have mentioned, popcorn/drink prices were sky high. When we left the theatre my wife said to me "Well, I guess we won`t need to do that again!!" Too bad `cuz we used to love going to movies.
Subway? We`ve eaten never there but our kids tell us it`s "not bad".
Geez, here I am sounding like "a grumpy old guy"........feeling better after my little rant. Better go do some fencing!

To many movies have left wingers starring in them. I refrain from most movies because of this. Just hard to enjoy a movie when the star touts obama or global warming or such

Larry, you might wanna take a second look at "global warming" & maybe think about it as "climate change". I don`t think anyone in their right mind can say that weather patterns over the past 10 years haven`t shifted in some significant ways. For example, the drought in California. Of course, the naysayers are just gonna say that there`s always been droughts & they`re right except for the probable fact that these ones are "different"!
Partisan politics aside, there`s no denying scientific facts! I`m not gonna change your mind & you won`t change mine.

When people have to change the name of it from global warming to climate change says so much. They just put a nail in the coffin of their agenda. If they had a case then they wouldn't change the name to cover their azs on any fluctuation in the weather

I guess we could all latch onto Al Gore and Michael Moore's so called expertise.......lmao. Enough said

Well, Like I said, I`m not out to change anybody`s mind. And if all the "climate change denier`s" turn out to be right, I guess we`ll be OK...if they`re wrong, we`re all in "deep sheep".
AS for some folks making lots of $ out of the controversy, of course, they are but there`s also a lot of people making big $ on the other side of it. Using that argument sure has a lot of holes in it!

Research shows that there were some very long droughts in the distant past, very long. No one alive is old enough to accurately point out that "something is different". If man ceased all activity tomorrow would it effect the climate? Extremely doubtful.

The thing I find funny with all these global warming theorists is they throw out their theory. Then when someone doubts them they are called names, then they do not want to debate it. If they had sound science they would love to debate it.

Back in the 1970's and 1980's, "they" were predicting a catastrophic ice age coming on fast. That didn't happen, so "they" had to change their course 180 degrees and moan and groan about "global warming." When that also proved to be a farce, "they" changed it to "climate change." The sky is falling, the sky is falling. One volcano erupting has way more effect on the earth's temperatures and conditions, than anything man can do. We are all going to die from something sometime. Even the health food nuts might think they can live a little longer, but it will just seem that way because of the untasty food they force themselves to eat. As long as our "arrangements" are covered for Eternity, it really doesn't matter. :-)
