Well I should be on the mend now - - - Got a massive hernia last week and they could not do surgery till yesterday.

I helped my 4 year old grand daughter in her pumpkin patch - - - she would take customers on her golf cart and I loaded the ones they picked - - - some were very big - - - I should have used the skid steer. That was on a Saturday and while I was tender I never gave it much thought. Then the following Tuesday morning I coughed and my colon came out just to the right of my right testicle as big as my doubled fist! Talk about painful and shocking!

The MRI showed I had tears on the left as well so I now look like I had a cesarean! Got a row of staples so it looks like a railroad track right above my third member.

They put a mesh reinforcement in but said I should limit myself to 50# for the rest of my life - - - 12 ounces for the next two weeks, 10# for 5 weeks after that.

It is a pain getting old! But I guess there are many worse things! I hated the thought of the pain meds but I guess I will need at least something for a while. Staples out next Wednesday.

One thing about it the doctors and nursing staff at the Fort Wayne VA Hospital are top notch!

I'm ready to stop hurting!

I have some great neighbors as they have worked out a sechudle to keep things going here till I get a little better.

One thing come to mind right off  I do empathize  Take care of yourself, and do well!

Listen to the doctor George - he's right! Guess how I know? The second time I had it done laparoscopic and had almost no pain at all! Still had to limit myself to only light work for a while. Trouble is, I stretched out his orders for about 20 years now!

I will take care of myself - - - flipped a GoldWing end for end in 1994 ( totally my fault ) and 2 hospitals and a herd of doctors said I would never walk again - - - three weeks later I looked like Artie Johnson from Laugh in but I walked and with in two years I was moving good enough I started a new business.

If you will work with / walk with the lord he will allow you to over come many things.

I have the same question 3Words. I have a Goldwing too and can't imagine how you could get one to flip end over end. I suppose if the front steering were turned hard right or left and also hit something low and solid, at a high speed, maybe it could be done. In any case, a hernia has got to be a whole lot less severe.

As far as the GoldWing goes I had a 1975 with a 1982 interstate kit on it. The only radio I could get that would fit in the faring was a cheapy ( very small ) that would play great but was hard to get on station.

I was on a road I had never been on before and while I was trying to get the radio on station ( not watching where I was going ) the road made a very hard left turn. I had the throttle lock set for about 45 MPH and anyone could have gone around that turn at that speed but I was watching the radio instead of the road and looked up just in time to panic and lock up my front wheel just as it went into the ditch.

I think tearing the muscles from my shoulder blades was from holding on to the handle bars, The three ribs I broke in front were probably from hitting the windshield, of course I broke all 10 ribs on the right side anywhere from 1 to 3 inches from the spinal column ( with 3 of the same ribs broken in front as well. Moved my right lung up about 4" and bruised my kidney.

Other than that I was OK.

I have had 3 new GoldWings since then - - - I guess I just can't be taught.

My current wing has about 140,000 miles on it and probably only about 500 by someone other than me. 1998 SE that still looks like new and still runs like new.
