Leanin' H and RA are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground.

They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.

' H says, "Wow, that's some hole; I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is."

RA says," I don't know. Let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom."

H says, "There's an old automobile transmission over there. Give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see."

So they pick it up and carry it over and count one, and two and three, and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and with no hesitation, jump in headfirst.

While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up.

"Say there," says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?"

H say's, " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doin' about a hunnert miles an hour and jumped headfirst into this hole here!"

The old farmer said, "That's impossible. I had him chained to a transmission."

:D :D :D

Yeah, you would of thought with all of 'H's and I's combined years of goat owning experience and having tied goats to inanimate objects many many times to graze to save on feed costs that the first thing we would of checked for is tethered goats before hurlin' something into a hole. The shear awesomeness of that hole clouded our normally responsible sharp clear minds.... :D :D

What 'H means by not deep enough is some how that goat got free down there and came up out of there and ripped us new ones. If it weren't for both of us being made of twisted steel, we'd a died... :D :D

Speaking of holes...

I've started in on making all new corrals for my fowl beasts. Re-doing everything.

almost there on this hole

the long poles will be where gateways are with boards across. Gotta long ways to go!

I want to to see your sorting alley and hen squeeze when you're done. :D Make sure you build it narrow enough, nothing worse than critters turning around in the chute alley.

Weigh scale too? Chick table for branding before they are too big to handle or are you stretching them in the round corral? :D

If I had two men here with your enthusiasm RA, I could rebuild this ranch in a week!

:D :D I used the wrong foul didn't I... :D ooops... :D . Either way I do need everything you mentioned for the fowl, too... :D . A weigh scale would be great for knowing when to butcher and rate of gains... :D ...and well, I've been stretching the chicks out and slappin' the iron on them...probably stick with that. The darn heat as been hitting right when the chicks need the shots and branding, so I have been putting it off until a cool day comes along. That means they do get a tad big, but I get it done... :D :D Thanks for the laughs... :D

Thanks! Boy it's hard out there! I start 4 or 5 holes at a time and keep adding water and digging and putting posts in. I do what I can during the day and then with a head lamp on at night. I was going to take some before pics, but was too embarassed on most of it.... :D Still won't be fancy, but should hold everything well and since I have played out there enough, I think I have an idea of where I should put things.
