Hi Richard,

...this morning, I received an online newsletter from Drovers Cattle
Network that had an article "Australia suspends live cattle trade to
Indonesia
http://www.cattlenetwork.com/cattle-news/latest/Australia-suspends-live-cattle-trade-to-Indonesia--123453624.html, Accessed 6-8-2011

... Is this a situation where one group of people spoil the reputation
of others? Or does inhumane slaughter take place way more than I
thought?

...

I found Temple Grandin's webpage on slaughter. ...

Link doesn't work now.

I had a Sudanese Muslim come by my farm last year looking for a place to kill goats. After a bunch of talking he was telling my about Halal slaughter. What I didn't know was they bind the legs and hold the animal down. He said he has done it all his life and was taught to take his aggression out on animals instead of people.

The butcher shop I use tried it twice, the muslims doing it didn't have a sharp enough knife and it was a bad experience, they will no longer allow it in their facility.

I'm all for the banning of Halal slaughter!
