Wish OLN was showing this in the U'S-it really covers wagon racing well. Last night they showed an old 'Canadian Derby' winner that they were outriding on-the outrider reunited the horse and his jockey from 17 years before. The jockey walked up beside the horse and the horse recognized him-stuck his tongue out to be rubbed-the wagon guyys had never seen him do that before lol.

Pardon my ignorance but is sticking-out-his -tongue usual horse language for "I want to be rubbed?" Just curious.

Hi: Thought I would drop my two cents here because I came across your site by chance and found your stories all very interesting. I'm an insider of wagon racing as I notice some of you are too. We will miss Norm in all of the races but we know he will still be kickin' around which will be great as well as competing in Calgary this year for sure. Yes, the races used to be in Cheyenne. Mostly the costs to go there made it tough but maybe someday we'll be back. The outrider killed in Cheyenne was Randy Evans. The CPCA has a High Point Champion Outrider memorial award in his name. His cousin, Wayne Wright, is a current outrider for the WPCA. There are talks of whether or not there will be a 3rd season of Half Mile of Hell so if you are enjoying it make sure you email OLN and let them know!

Thanks for the heads up...will email OLN. Love watching Half Mile of Hell, interesting and worth a real good laugh at times.

The crazy Harden sence of humor came out on show last weekend when Chad was playing with horses tail

Yes, Chad has quite the sense of humour. He likes to keep things stirred up with everyone around camp. :D He is also a big help when people need him and in the upcoming episode this weekend you will really see him come through for his friend and fellow competitor Shane Cartier when Shane has a wreck in Strathmore. :( Really, that's what it's all about. Even though we are all competitive, we are still a family when it counts the most. Thanks for your support of the sport :!:

Well, it's official. Half Mile of Hell will not see a third season. :( The producers said the ratings were great however the OLN network is being sold so that's that... unless anyone knows a network that wants to runa great series :D It was fun while it lasted anyhow. Too bad. Some great exposure for the drivers and outriders. Thanks to the Half Mile of Hell crew for being part of our lives for a couple of summers and making it great! You'll be missed.

Thanks also to Leo and Kim Tournier on the Red Deer episode for sharing such a deeply painful part of your lives with the viewers. Glad the WPCA Ladies fundraiser was able to raise a decent amount of money for the Ty Tournier Memorial Research Foundation. God bless you guys.

Well, with Spring training getting into full swing now and the snow melting, tarp sales are now on everyone's mind. Good luck to all of the drivers. All the best for the 2007 season.

:( Thats too bad :!: Loved half mile of Hell. I surely appreciated the drivers sharing thier personal lives with us.I'm also sad OLN is selling...thats one awsome station,I watch it more then any other.

I would also like to say good luck to the drivers this season, as their all starting to get their weagon's out of the barns and start working on the horses! I can't wait for the first Race of the year! RIght up here in Good Old Grande Prairie, just has the Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek tarp sales last night, they went awsome! Here are the results if anyone is interested!

Way to go everyone! See you in a couple months! Also good luck to the outriders this year, they are the guys that are sometimes over looked! Just think we couldn't have a WPCA without those guys either!!!

Albertagirl...you didn't say who got the highest bid. Thanks for the info though, looking forward to the new season starting, and we're really hoping to make G.P this year, haven't been there for a few years but really enjoy that rodeo.

Wow to think the weagon season is already half over... Only 2 more months left! Looks like Mr. Sutherland could take the world.... O wait i didn't mention which sutherland because either 3 of them I think could take it this year. Mark has came back from last year with a vengance!!

 Half over  Darn I haven't seen one race yet, going to Ponoka for Canada Day though....love the chucks :!: Sure is nice to see Mark come back after his scare last year.

Ya Mark has been making some consistant runs, and with a good outfit he's rite in the running for a world championship along side his uncle and his dad... Sutherlands are taking the WPCA by storm this year. And what about Jerry Bremner.... He's been on the hot streak!! Must have found something that works for him... can't wait for them to come up to Dawson Next Month!!

My neighbor is hooked with Kelly,Neil and Norm tomorrow night in Calgary so should be fun for him. There will be four or five guys from up here running in Calgary-lots of wagon ponies in my neck of the woods.

Wow that's exciting ya i can't wait for the races to start tonite!! The crowd is going to be insaine!!! Anyways any and all who are down in calgary rite now... i'm glad to see i'm not the only one battling the ppl!! O well what we do for our sport rite! Anyways good luck to all the guys running this week in calgary... Weagon's and Rodeo!!! :!: :!: :!: :!:

Im a large fan and supporter of Rodeo and Chuckwagons.

My mom sponsered Tyler Helmig in Grande Prairie.

3-4 Mornings I helped Mike Vigen clean out his barn, It's a lot of hard work. My uncle grew up with the Vigen's.

Just wanted to say that our thoughts and prayers are with Tyler and his family as he' is still in foothills hospital in calgary! But don't worry Tyler your team is running good with Kirk at the lines! Not as good as if they would be if you were there! Get better soon, everyone misses you on the track!

We really enjoyed the CHuckwagon races at Cheyenne and are disappointed they no longer are there.

Think it's been nearly twenty years ago we started going for the last 3-4 days of that rodeo, and felt the last few years they were there, the races changed, getting 'milder'. Heard it was due to fears of liability. Don't know if there was anything too it. Couldn't be any worse than the way they run the Wild Horse Race, tho. Chuckwagons are more interesting and more of a point to that. Maybe sort of like difference between dally and tie-dow team roping. We like single steer roping better.......maybe because it relates more to pasture doctoring and roping, which the guys here still do.........tho no horns, so it is more like tie-down roping.

Anyway, we still dream of getting to Canada to see some of the real chuchwagon racing before our 'clocks' run down.
