Hello, I'm looking for a bit of fence advice.

Please look at these two drawings: https://imgur.com/a/XGbmusf

I wan't to hang a gate and am considering one of these two options. They are subtle so look closely.

One option only requires one H brace, and the other requires two. I like the look of the single H brace at an angle to the gate. Can I get away with this, or do I need to hang the gate strait on the H brace. Please see pictures.

PS I'm using about 5" diameter posts, sunk 3 feet. I used one bag of cement and tamped the rest. So the cement comes about 1.5 feet up from the bottom of the hole, and tamp the other 1.5 feet. Solid clay soil.

Thank you so much!

If the gate latches against the barn and will usually be closed the single brace plan will work fine if you put something to prop the swing end on while closed. How wide is it?

Any possibility of just swapping the gate around and putting hinges on the other side? I know it WILL pull that post down over time, unless you have something to support the gate.
