Looks like a penquin sitting on a nest. It wouldn't be surprising, considering the Global Cooling that has taken place this spring.

We would call that stocking hat a toque. No shame in dressing warm. Boy you work in pretty country. Hills, grass, water and cows, just like l imagine Heaven would be like. (but warmer in Heaven)

Thanks for the compliments, per.

Of course, if a person wanted it really warm, they could mess up and go to the Other Place. Just kidding, I wouldn't wish that off on anyone.

I didn't shed my stocking cap all day as well :( Surely one of these days it will happen. I think I have worn a sweatshirt everyday as well. It has been a very wet and cold winter/spring.

It got down to 28 degrees again last night, which makes it hard for the grass to grow very well. I have long had a theory on Sandhills weather. My thoughts are that it doesn't matter what the first week of May is like. It can be cold, dry, windy, and obnoxious - it flat doesn't matter. But after a lifetime of ranching in the Sandhills, my observations are that the second and third weeks of May are very critical for the whole rest of the growing season. If it rains then, and if the frosts stay away, and if there is a bit of warm sunshine, the growing season can get off to a very good start. If it doesn't rain, and it continues to freeze at night, the hay crop and pasture grasses do not get off to that all-important start, and then we all know the ramifications of "the rest of the story." We do have one of those critical weeks still ahead of us. The rains will come and the sunshine will prevail. :-)

Good luck everyone on having a fine summer. :-)

Seeing some green in them thar hills over west...that's a good sign, but I'm with you...we've had our cool temps enuff is enuff..let the sun shine during the day and rain at nite...lol Great pictures as always...thanks

Warmed up BIG TIME here today, forecast is warmer for next 3 days. Tomorrow we should be able to hear the grass grow and watch some of the mud dry up. :D :D Still feeding for a couple more days, this country goes from winter to summer overnight.
Good to see that young fella isn't letting schoolin' interfere with all his eddicatin' :D  Thanks again Soapweed.
