In regard to the above flag:
Between the field where the flag is planted there are 9+ miles of flower fields that go all the way to the ocean. The flowers are grown by seed companies. It's a beautiful place close to Vandenberg AFB. Checkout the dimensions of the flag.

The 2002 Floral Flag was 740 feet long and 390 feet wide and maintains the proper Flag dimensions as described in Executive Order #10834. This Flag is 6.65 acres and is the first Floral Flag to be planted with 5 pointed Stars comprised of White Larkspur. Each Star is 24 feet in diameter; Each Stripe is 30 feet wide. This Flag is estimated to contain more than 400,000 Larkspur plants with 4-5 flower stems each for a total of more than 2 million flowers. You could have driven by this flag on V Street south of Ocean Ave. in Lompoc, CA.

That reminds me- today is the day for me to put up a new flag...Flown one for years, used to put it up and take it down everyday, but then back in the Gulf War period I put in lighting for it so it can fly around the clock...Always replace it when it gets ratty and on Jan 1 and July 4th...( and it is starting to get a little frayed)...

Spent last night at the Hinsdale rodeo- made my bride a rodeo widow again by ending up behind the chutes all night ... The kid asked me if I'd help him set his rigging- which he definitely doesn't need help doing anymore, but he reminded me it was 20 years ago on the 4th weekend when I set his rigging for his first bareback-- He said tonites was his last, so he wanted me to pull it for him...Said he's getting too old to get jerked around, and will just stick to the saddle broncs...And I think he means it this time- after his ride he gave his rigging to a young High School cowboy I've been helping- "just so the temptation isn't there"...

And he went out in good form- Scored a 73 on his bareback to take first and a 72 on his saddle bronc to take second- picked up about $900 to pay for his trip home....

Happy 4th everyone!!!!!!! Yep, Im somewhere in the middle of the Mohave Dessert, training. OORAHHH. hot as heck here, but at least we got a few hours today to shower, use the internet and maybe even make a few phone calls! Couldnt ask for much more than that. Anyway, God Bless America, and have a brew for me, but be safe!!!!
