happy friday evening

We are in the middle of calving here. Its not going to bad. If I had some good help it would be better but I cant have everything. We had a storm come through here monday had 5 foot drifts but managed to get everything to pull through with flying colors.

Hi from BC. Calving just started here and we are nearly 20% done. Weather hasn't been the greatset but not cold so far.

I noticed something tonight, it's nearly always the same three Canucks that are first to say Hi back. Is that because we're just that friendly or have nothing else to do? :D

Howdy zip. glad to see that you came through the storm ok. just had our first calf yesterday but the rest aren't due for another month and a half, hopeing spring will have sprung by then. we have a cool wet week coming up according to the weather guessers

I'm guessing " nothing else to do" but when you live as far out as you and BMR do it wouldn't take much to distract you though   Per is just being friendly

Good Saturday mornin', and we are just over 1/2 done. Real foggy here this am. Wish fog would grow grass.......... I used to live in Gillette, drove truck for True Oil Co. Still have friends up there. I really liked Gillette. People seem to like it or hate it. One story I remember from there happened at the time when streaking was popular. Well, this feller thinks he need to streak through a store in downtown Gillette. Happens that the town cop caught him, and just handcuffed him to a parking meter for a few hours before letting him go. No lecture, no fine, nothing, not even any more streaking through town!

Welcome, zlp. Always good to have new voices in the conversations.

shortgrass, quite a few from west central SD have relocated to that area, too, and seem to like it, not only for the better jobs. For some, being closer to mountains probably is a big pull, too. Good story re. the 'streaker'!

When we were having fog morning after morning, we took comfort in the fact that is good for the cedar trees. They may be 'trash' in some neighborhoods, but here, most any tree that lives is a blessing. Pretty good shelter for cattle in rough country.

Calving hiefers is intense here, with ten yesterday, 17 overnight, and still coming fast. Our two man crew probably is getting a little worn out. They have to put some further out into windbreaks and off the creek bottom!!Yesterday, we did have a nice warm day which opened up some grass, and even made a few bare spots, with sun this morning to hopefull dry off the surface on the hig spots. All the hard, cold, wet work is easier when there is some good moisture causing it!

Just so the Canucks don't get all the credit, I'll say welcome aboard too.
I am just an old worn out retired farmer-rancher but I get a lot from this site. The more people willing to post here, and take a part of the conversation, the more we learn and the more problems we can try to solve or the more we can make. Interesting part of the country where you live.

Hi from MN. What ever you do here don't show weakness , They thrive on that . There is much to learn here some of it is even fact . Lefty
