The Harding County coyote calling contest was held this weekend in Buffalo with 24 teams competing. As usual, the wind blew hard on Saturday, which always interferes with the hunt, but overall, it was a successful weekend.

Here are the results:
Saturday: The team of Toby Peters from Sturgis and Dave Septka from Piedmont won 1st with Ben Fox and Jeremiah Heath taking 2nd.

Sunday: 1st place team was Ben Fox and Jeremiah Heath, 2nd place was Tim and Cole Stevenson, 3rd place was Bill Anders and Dayln McCann.

Overall winners were: 1st Toby and Dave, 2nd Ben and Jeremiah, 3rd Tim and Cole, 4th Bill and Dayln, and taking 5th place was the team of Ryan Cordell and Clint Zolnoski.

The team of Toby Peters and Dave Septka won the Big Dog contest with a coyote weighing in at 33.1# and Bill Anders and Dayln McCann won the Little Dog contest.

How many yotes were shot overall, and by the winning team? Did everybody use calls? or did a few patrol around? Just curious.

Sorry I'm late answering this P Joe. My mother had another seizure following her brain surgery from a month ago, the seizure brought on another heart attack, and then she developed pneumonia on top of all her other problems so I haven't had much time to devote to ranchers.net.

I apologize for not asking how many coyotes were shot, but I do know that almost all of the hunters used coyote calls. If I get time during this Christmas rush, I'll try to find out some details. I did hear that most of them had a great time.

Happy, you seem to be developing a stutter or something. Are you OK?

LB, I heard that the winners shot three coyotes. And I think the 2nd placer's did too.

Hope things are going ok with your mom now.

Come on LB you must know what TTT means? I just wanted to see how many coyotes where killed durring this contest. Tap gave us the results, thanks Tap.

Tap yep alot of fun and to me nothing more exciting than becomming the hunted. People think deer are a great challange, get after cagy coyotes that have been pressured and man that opens up a new world of tough hunting and challange to me.

Happy head up here and I'll squeel in a black bear for you some time if you like becoming the hunted-that gets pretty intense. As soon as deer season is over the snow camo comes out and we hunt 'yotes rest of winter. I've called bear in just by squeeking a blade of grass.
