Classic story, she was outside (even though she's actually my housecat), got cold and crawled up under the hood of the pickup that was plugged in.
The lesser half went out for his afternoon check on Sunday, started it up, heard a big clunk and saw chunks of black fur fly out. The "clunk" apparently killed the engine. He hoisted the hood to see what had happened and couldn't find anything. No cat. No cat pieces. Nothing.
Finally tracked her down under the deck with a broken leg, several very large bald spots, a small gash out of the top of her head and a really POed attitude.
I called the vet who said that since she wasn't really bleeding and there were no other injuries, even if we were to bring her up that day, they'd just hold her over night to let her settle down, avoid shock, etc. before knocking her out for any surgery.
Friend of mine was out of town on Monday, so I had to run her store. Which means guess who took the cat to the vet?
What a man.
He said the vet told him they could either do surgery, or just let her heal up on her own, which most cats in our area do anyway. And to give her a few shots of PN. They could give her the first one at the office, or he could haul her home and give it at home.
"I just drove a d@#$ cat 40 miles for a $15 office call. You give her the shot!"
She's been pretty slow the past couple of days, but I've noticed today she is starting to drag herself around a bit.
