Well were loading bulls and headed to Mobridge this morning. My brothers cancer has taken a dramatic turn and I've spent the last few days trying to get a lifetime of memories into 3 days. I can barely function and I know by the time I get home he'll be gone my family and wife keep saying what would Luke do and I know he'd kick me in the ash so I'm going forward as he'd do but it sure is'nt plesant. Cancer is a cruel S.O.B. After watching what he's gone thru I can say were kinder to our pet's than we are to our fellow human beings. So long big brother.

And thanks Steve I needed these last few days.

 Sad news. So sorry to hear about your brother. Been through it with my Mom, and couldn't agree with you more. Cancer is cruel, and the sooner a cure is found for all types of it, the better. Stay strong, and focus on all the good times you've had with your brother. Those good memories are priceless. Wishing you the best.

Denny, sorry about your brother. Things like this do help us see our priorities in life more clearly.

We buried my aunt's sister in law yesterday. She was 90 yrs old and had been in assisted living for a number of years. The cancer took her down quickly since they found it only in the last couple months. We can be thankful that she did not last any longer than she did when there was no chance of winning against it.

The assisted living place where she lived is run by wonderful people. Hospice nurses came in toward the end to help with her care and she never went to the hospital. The assisted living was the next best place to home.

Sharing in your sorrow Denny. Keep in mind that your brother will not be suffering anymore when he's gone. Wish we were closer for you.

Best of luck with your bulls and have a safe trip.

Denny, my deepest sympathy to you and your family in this tough loss.

I've fought cancer twice, now, and know it is possible it will return. It truly is an evil malady, hiding so well and finding so many ways to attack the body.

I also lost a sister to cancer when she was 14 and I was 15, as well as my mother at age 63, and several other family members. West central SD sure seems to have a high rate of cancer. Don't know if it is fact, or just feels that way.

I really wish I knew which groups are doing the best work in attempts to solve this ilness. I hate wasting money on the ones seeming to spend too much of their money on 'fluff'. Does anyone have any knowledge for that situation?

Memories of the good times shared with family and friends we lose to the demon, cancer, sure are one of the good ways of coping, but only time can ease the pain............and the loss is always felt.

Denny i am sure sorry about your Brother. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with ya and your family. Like Gcreek said, i wish we were closer and could help more than just words. It is hard for me to wrap my mind around cancer and the pain it brings to everyone that has it or goes through it with someone they care about. We have fought it in my family more times than i'd like to remember and it has taken some of my favorite people much too soon. Just know your friends here on Ranchers are hurting with ya. Be Blessed!

Denny: yes cancer is cruel, my thoughts are with you. and yes, we are kinder to our animals than we are to humans when end of life situations arise. I went through it with my dad. again my thoughts are with you and good luck.........
