Heifers (pic)

Not great pictures but a few months on show rations and I'm sure a judge would find them to be just what he likes-cattle showing is a social event to network with other cattle breeders it has absolutely NOTHING to do with identifying superior genetics or worthiness in a commercial enviroment. Like I said cattle shows like Agribition or denver are great places to meet and greet but I wouldn't make any decisions on my breeding programs from the results there. If Aplus likes to show cattle those heifers are probably just the ticket-if those cattle work there and make him his living that's all that really matters.

I guess I miss were the Angus and Simmental would not work as commercial cattle? I actually see them as Commercial cattle more than I see them as show cattle, they are not fancy enough to be show heifers. Only reason i even considered it is because my kids would like to show some animals we raised instead of buying them.

Now I grant you the small heifer is a little extreme for the commercial producer and probably will fit as a show heifer. She is the only one with extreme hair.

The Angus and Simmental will most likely just go in the herd as future Commercial Cows I will A.I them with future heifers in mind and clean up with our Simmental Bull.

For those familiar with Angus Genetics that Angus is a Grand daughter of Legend, she is out of an Angus Bull "Old School" I like them genetics be it show or Commercial. Especially since we are trying to raise Moderate framed cattle.

Another side point on the Angus heifer she was a 30 day Preemie out of a heifer.

Our daughter always picked a calf from our commercial herd to show for 4-H. I agree with NR,some ration and they'll be in real nice show shape. Our daughter stopped in,I showed her your picks, her fortay was judging, says that little hiefer will be a real nice show girl says shes really femininan{sp}Mostly I just think your pics weren't "right" somehow. The year our daughter won reserve, she used a Maine cross :)

Aplus...I have to apologize for being so rough on your pics.

Those heifers have a ton of hair, if you can keep in going all summer, you should have a a big fluffy heifer, that I'm betting will do well! I do think they have some potential. You know the funny thing is, is that cattle change so much---this time of year our coming yearling bulls almost look like different critters week to week, and the same hold true for our heifers.

Good luck, and I look forward to the next set of pics! Hey, how about a pic of your skunk pig you mentioned in Coffee Shop? I enjoy looking at pig pics too. I bet he/she eats good too!

Cheers---

TTB

You were not rough! And I never get offended about what people think of my cattle. I would not post them if did not want honest opinions. You can not learn anything if people go around tickling your ears and blowing smoke up your butt.

Here is the only pic I have of Skunk face. But in a few weeks I can give you a picture of a plate of Pork Shops from him
