Hello, all.

Well, Alabama, I truly wish I could share our seasonal rains with the rest of the country. Better luck this year.
cowwrangler, kolanuraven, Dan Paulson, Shelly (brr!), Oldtimer, Mrs. Greg - hello! Thanks for welcoming me.
Mrs. Greg, I don't feel I've been adequately warned about jigs. Anything else I should know?

There is not enough room for all the warnings. Just jump in and hang on.

Oh don't you be worry bout that. We wernt too sad for long. We had a heck of a party afterwards.

Didn't hafta feed the hog fer might near over a week!

Yes, please, OT - that is something I want to see tho I know I'm probably going to regret having it burned on my eyeballs for all eternity. Still...a fruit bikini doesn't happen my way every day.

Lol...Mike, if it isn't too presumptuous, just a little so, to ask...what's in that bottle in front of you?
You know, I once knew a friend of a friend who had a frontal labotomy and you've never met a nicer person in your life. If they weren't so expensive, they'd make great gifts.

   your officially a member :!:

I learned in home ec that the quality of ingredients used in any recipe determines the outcome everytime, but that it isn't a bad thing to be a little experimental. Sounds like you're a little experimental. (It's just happenstance that word contains the word "mental" in it, never mind.)
Your 3rd ex-wife must have had very special feelings for you.
Do you always wear the corn hat since that particular operation or only for special?

Did anyone else notice that when we were talking about jigs- the ad at the bottom of the page came up with pictures of "poor" girls with little clothing- so naturally thinking it was a charity I clicked on it   :P ....

Dancing girls- bikinied carwash- etc. etc......

What mentioning jigs name won't bring up :???:   :P

Oldtimer, you're undoubtedly on to something there. I bet the search engines have tagged Jigs' name as a keyword to bring up links to all sorts of related subject matter. Could be a real timesaver for busy folk.

Welcome Emma, good to see you have settled in already. I had the opportunity to see the Wagyu herd at Briggs Genetics a few years back, impressive, but at the other end of the feed spectrum to my forage based system.

Well better late than never. Somehow I managed to be busy today and now there's three pages of welcome's to Emma.

Welcome, and from what I 've already read, your gonna fit in with this bunch just fine.

Oh...and we love to share pictures on here. It's like a mini vacation without leavin the comfort of your home. Feel free to share.

You are growin' the wrong kind of cattle for the wetside...you belong on the eastside.....lol.

I like Arnolds Ranch & Home in Ellensburg, but I travel to Big R in Yakima for bulk stuff and bigger selection. Where else do you ride at?

You're right, choclab, tho any cattle this close to Seattle seem to be the wrong ones. I have to buy so much hay from Ellensburg to carry them thru the winter it makes no sense. We only have about 35 acres in cattle pasture and I wintered 41 head. We're right near Lake Washington so land's at a premium.
I'd love to have a summer place for the cattle in the Ellensburg area, especially if it was within horse riding distance to the wilderness!
I like getting to Quincy Lakes before it gets too warm over there and the snakes slither out. I'm not sure what my horses or I would do if we happened near a little rattler, we'd probably all scream bloody murder and one or two of us would faint.
I just started riding in Teanaway last spring and have lots of exploring left to do there. I used to go to Salmon la Sac but it's too crowded with hikers. My best horse has developed an unreasonable fear of hikers with gigantic backpacks and trekking poles and he doesn't care what he has to do to avoid them. Gets a little hairy at times, particularly if we happen to be on a narrow ledge high above a river.
Do you trail ride? If so, what are your favorite places?

Hey andybob, yeah Briggs is a whole other world, isn't it?
Are you a "grass farmer", MIG? What's your ranch like?
I started intensive rotational grazing last summer trying to squeeze all I could out of our small space and still leave it in good shape and I was surprised and happy with the results. It is management intensive but it's well worth the effort at our level.
It also gives the cattle something to look forward to every day. They always get a thrill moving to a new area, waddling, lumbering bucking, kicking, frolicking all the way. Plus, it gives me an excuse to spend more face time with them when I'm doing something other than sticking them with needles.
