HI Everyone,
I'm new here. From Colorado and looking at getting back into cattle. I grew up on a ranch in ND and haven't been in the business since I left home which was many, many moons ago! I have 90 acres of good pasture including some hay meadow, and live water that runs through it. I have bought a couple of steers and kicking around the idea of buying some covered cows.
The problem is my job, I have to leave town for up to 9 days at a time.
I have been purchasing equipment at auctions and road side sales for the last several months. So far I have a 20' stock trailer, some collapsible round bale feeders, lots of wire and posts.
What would you ranchers do if you were me?

Rent your ground out and take the sure income. You can't be away from your place for 9 days and expect everything to run smoothly. There are too many things that can go wrong.

That might be kind of tough on your neighbors if you are gone for 9 days and the cattle start working the fence the first day you leave. Change jobs or rent it out.

Find a High schooler with nothing better to do and get them to take care of the place. Works good with me as I like taking care of cattle. I've done it for several neighbors over the last few years.
