I got a call this morning of some folks who have to leave unexpectedly and they need two bales of horse hay--big rounds--they were willing
to come to Baker to get some as they can't seem to find any closer.
I was sure we could find them a couple of bales closer than that--
the people I knew to contact aren't home, so if anyone knows of hay
close to (I think she said) Flaxen, ND, please send me a PM or post
a source they could contact here. They
only have today to get the hay the way she sounded, so time is
of the essence. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like typical horse kooks, making a national crisis out of needing 2 bales of hay, their neighbors probably have the hay for $50 a roll and they are looking for some for $40/roll and are willing to drive 200 miles to save $20.

I like to read craigslist at the amount of people who are hunting for a couple bales....some of those adds are so wacked out is is pathetic

Could be that they are truely having a family crisis of some sort and have to leave for an extended period of time, and have no one to feed horses while they are gone. That's what this sounds like to me. You know...a death in the family or somethin equally important.

Hope they are able to find the hay they need.

doubt we know the problem. but I know where BCR is coming from..... outside of Wichita, they sell off 1 acre lots, so everyone puts up a 300K dollar home and buys a horse or two.... but no one knows what it takes to feed or winter the animal... I am floded with calls wanting me to deliver 2 bales ! everytime they are OUT of hay. I am 3 hours away from Wichita....plenty of hay close by, but they want to save a few bucks....there is truth to the resoning behind BCR's rant

It's just that I had an identical request from someone last week. It's not like they didn't have all summer to find a solid supply of hay.

With good dry hay being a rare item around here this winter, I don't like to part with any but it's not nice to turn someone down.
