Second one of these I've owned down here and they are amazingly tough ranch trucks....Toyota Land Cruiser. This one has the single cab and the standard box/bed. The other, a closed-in SUV-type vehicle is also tough though for me not as versatile because it doesn't have the bed.

For those who wish to buy this vehicle, they're hard to come by because those who own them don't want to sell them.

These pics were taken late Friday afternoon as we were fertilizing bermuda and bracaria. I had over 1500 lbs of fertilizer in the bed and while I could feel the weight in the back the overall ride and traction didn't seem to change at all.

Okay, this one doesn't have anything to do with trucks, but I'm still pumped about my maute deal. :D We've separated most of the smaller animals from the larger in the group. Here the larger animals are chowing down on bermuda hay.

Do you ever have occasion to use the snorkel kit?

Nope, and that wasn't my idea.

I bought the vehicle used and decided it was easier to leave it instead of trying to remove it. Having said that, I've now got holes big enough and deep enough in my entrance road that I sometimes think it might come in handy. :D

Good to leave it on anyway. In dusty conditions that is a good place to suck in the air. We had them on our trusty land cruisers when I worked in the desert with a dust bowl on the top. With the added bonus of fording the creek as well.

I have a little 85 Toyota truck that's my pasture truck. And I absolutely love that lil thang. It'll pretty much swim...(doesn't have a snorkel) But I don't ever hafta worry about gettin that thing stuck. It just goes...where ever I point it.
Nearly every person that comes thru our gate wants to buy it. Got one fella that everytime I see him...the first thing he asks....is "When are you gonna sell me that truck?"

We have a favorite here too...a 1977 IH Scout II that Mr. FH says
"will climb a tree if you ask it to"...we had a 1973 before that--one
of the Vigortone semi-drivers backed over it. I swear I saw a tear
in Mr. FH's eye when that happened  ...but it turned out not so bad
because with the insurance money we found the 1977 with an
automatic transmission. I found it on e-bay...and only 50 miles
from home!!!

Maybe this would be a good catagory for the photo contest:

Your favorite ranch vehicle....

I think they are the perfect ranch truck. They are sold and used all over the world in some pretty tough conditions, but they are not available in Canada. It doesn't make any sense. I have wanted one for years. I agree that would be a great photo contest.

ps. anyone know where to get them used in Canada?
