Figured I might as well finish off the opinions with our herd bull. He is PB Simmental out of Gold Mine, Homozygous Black and Polled.

I really like that Gold Mine bull for a Simmi...A friend of mine sold several Gold Mine bulls in his bull sale 2 years ago that were 1/2 angus or purebreds and I really liked the look of them...The guys that I've talked to that bought them said they've calved as easy as any angus and they used them on heifers and cows...

I am glad to hear that because I took a chance and bred him to 5 heifers this year. I had heard that Goldmine was easy calving but I had no real experiance in him. I was hopping he would kick out some good heifers with moderate frame. Using him on Angus and Angus x Maine at the moment.

Thanks for the info.

I like the calf. Do you know anything about the Maine bull Cervesa? He is out of Irish Whiskey and a Chill Factor cow. I have some black cows AI'd to him I would like to sale.

Yea I was at the the Griswold sale two years ago when he sold. Pretty nice bull, I have not seen any calves out of him yet in person but I did like him. How many cows you got for sale?

Thanks for the compliments on the bull, but I can not take credit for the pics (you know better than that  ) They were pics taken from the Previous owner I got him from in Iowa he sent me a bunch of pics before I decided to drive up there and look at him.

Pictures won't breed cows. He's a good bull.

Wow! That's a nice bull! I'd like to have him here breeding our cows! I've never been a big fan of Simmentals, that's what was here when I first moved here. Slowly over time, we have basically moved on to a mostly Hereford based cow herd. Much easier for myself to work with. The Simmentals my husband's family raised were just wrecks waiting to happen, and most of the cows were just miserable. But the black Simmentals have caught my eye, and I'd like a black one to breed our cows to. But up here, you almost have to give your first born to get your hands on one.

Just got our first calf from him this morning. Came easy out of a heifer. Did not weigh him but would guess in the 70's. I was a little surprised it did not have a white face. But I am not that familiar with odds of having the white vs solid black. Nice looking bull calf.
