Even I am pulling for you. My brother has been battleing cancer for 5 years I bet and he's just 44 now. He got out of the hospital last night.

You guys with that nasty disease are a tough lot. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas.

Planning to sell most of the cows and keep every spring 2011 heifer calf as a replacement. That will be a decrease in numbers here. Just have to many for the places they are at. Finding places to put the live animal on is the biggest challenge. Enviromentalist, Horse pasture and tree lovers are now a factor in attaining pasture. In this state the fencing laws require the farmer to keep up all fences. Non farmers do not need to keep up fence. Intersting one of our neighbors (tree hugger) actually checks fence and drives over tells us to fix or build fence when cows are close to it. NOT out just when the cows are close to it.
 
Well unless he is a jerk about be happy there is another pair of eyes on the fences.

Figure there will only be pressure on one side of the fence as he probably doesn't run stock.

We actually doubled our heard this year. Feels like we are starting all over. Only have five or six three plus year-olds. So we will see what calving season is like in February. :?
 
We sold 1/4 of the spring-calving cows this past fall (hard cull) so numbers will probably be constant this coming year. But lots of heifers coming up to be bred, so hopefully 2012 we'll be well back into our normal numbers and going for expansion.

But if bred prices go crazy I might just do the same as gcreek.
