I was wondering what is the going rate for a good herd manger. Mange around 200 head cow/Calf opp in west central IL. With a good house and a Company truck.

If anyone knows anyone who might be Interested please Private message me.

Since "mange" is "any of various skin diseases of mammals caused by parasitic mites and characterized by intense itching, lesions and scabs, and a loss of hair", I don't want any mange around my cattle herd.

Perhaps you are looking for a herd "manager". There are probably some good men around that would be interested in such a job, but I wouldn't know what the going rate would be to hire one.

Good luck in your quest.

I don't know of anyone but I am sure you can find one , and a good one with the right pay. You're in a higher income area of the world there . I'd say it'd take 35,000.00 or so. Lots of good hands would take it for something like that. You can find a slug of 20,000.00 want to be cowboys but ...

Watch out McDaid.... you must first get past the Spelling Meister on the web site!! BEWARE of his wrath!!!!

if you want one with a fine education, who is already too wealthy, and will work for free try Kola. but take the $$$ you save on labor, and buy earplugs.

Now if you want jigs....he seems to keep the drizzlin' shites so he'd be an insurance and health liability.

is this where I cry and throw a tantrum??? then say everyone is ganging up on me??? it is so tough to follow your lead.

Well, Miss Kola, even you must admit that this spelling error makes a rather large difference in what the person wants. Dictionaries are quite inexpensive, and they can even be found right handy on the internet.

There is quite a bit of difference in "herd mange" which would be a critical herd health problem, and a "herd manager" which could be good or could be bad, depending on the talent and abilities of the person hired for the job.

You should be happy to realize that you aren't the only poster I'm picking on. For heck sakes, if you mean one thing don't say something entirely different.

Carry on. :-)

I am doing better now Soapweed. Spent a short week with a nasty flu. I feel so good now I might just have a green eyed runaway. :!:

Another bonus is that our winter weather has been so nice that we are sure saving on feed this year. Every day that stays open like this is money in the bank for us. How about you? Did you get much of the storm that clipped southern Wyoming today? Other than the skiff it looked like you had in the pictures you posted. Are you feeding hay to cows yet? I know you are lots closer to calving season than we are.

We haven't fed much hay yet, except to a bunch of 60 broken-mouthed old cows and some rough swamp hay to our red cows. The grass is still holding out, but we will sure have to start feeding hay about the first of the year.
