Here we go... another snow storm is on the way. This morning I trailed the pairs back into shelter. Many were already heading that way when I got out there this morning :D.

Here they come...

A few more appearing out of the fog. Ice is coating everything. Hope the power stays on!

They're getting pretty used to this drill.

We'll wait to see what happens... I think I'm as prepared as possible. They've upped the forecast to 24 inches up here . Next week is supposed to be in the 60's though, so it shouldn't last long.

How do you go about feeding those net-wrapped bales? We've always used twine but thought about netwrap. Haven't done it yet because we don't want the hassle of picking it up every day. We'll have a lot of carry-over going into next fall (assuming a normal year of precip) and it would be nice if it would keep better.

The best thing I found for feeding frozen netwrap this winter was to start rolling out in the same area on the frozen ones- and then when the weather is nice- giving the grandkids the 4 wheeler and some empty feed sacks and promise them $10 apiece if they clean them all up....

Works great...

I think they're miserable to feed, and much prefer twine. Even when you get it off the bale, you've got globs of wrap to burn up, and it takes more room up than twine until you get it burned. We buy some hay each year, and so some of it does come net-wrapped. Like OT, if it's really frozen on, I just cut it, roll it off, and pick it up later .
