Wow  Does Mrs Gcreek even try to grow a garden? How hot does it get in the summer?

Carrots, beets, romaine lettuce, onions, all the " frozen vegetable" varieties. :D
During July and August it can be 20 to 30 F in the AM and 90 F is a very hot day.

17 frost free days???? That's crazy!!!! LOL

how does the grass grow in those conditions. Frost here makes grass turn brown.

Lordy....and we squeal if we get 17 days OF frost total!!!!

Univesity Of Wyoming list Star Valley as having possable frost 365 days a year. There some good garders here that mulch, cover or live in the right canyon or hill.
Grass is all cool season trick is to not have frost befoe it heads out. Alfalfa can take a little frost and keep growing, usually 26 degrees is the limit.
2 years ago we had mid 80s for highs and lows in the high 20s. worst grass and hay year I had ever seen.

Sounds like we live in the same spot, a few hundred miles apart.

The agrologists say we can grow turnips if we put long underwear on the seeds as they are planted! :D

Yep, I used to think I had it rough at times... not anymore. When I get to feeling sorry for myself, I think of you two and am reminded it could always be tougher  . I complain about the wind, but at least it opens the ground up, you're both stuck in snow tombs until spring melt. If you come up missing, we'll be sure to form a Ranchers.net rescue team to come dig you out :D !
