The McIlwraith's from Glenfiddich Galloways send greeting your way. I met their daughter and saw a couple of head of their stock today at the Ontario Farm Show.

I mentioned that I knew of a Galloway breeder from Alberta and she told me that they bought a bull from you. Your infamy grows! :-)

Did they name it Old Grump after its previous owner

Sorry about that Maple Leaf. Actually Oldtimer the previous owner is the guy who names the bull, and there is a story behind that one. (Maybe they call him "old grump", or "Kaiser" at home but) His registered name is "Regina Intoxication". I usually only sell two year old bulls but young John saw old "intoxication" and must have told his pappa that they simply had to have that bull.

John senior invited me out to Regina to have some fun and watch the Agribition show, and I politely accepted his invitation. Could only get a room in the seediest Hotel in the City for the night, but thought I really only needed a bed anyway. (more on that later). We started working on the bull deal and the bottle sometime that afternoon, and by the end of the day - I damn near bought a bull and had indeed sold one fine little bull calf to Mr. McIlwraith. Don't really remember going back to "that room" but certainly remember waking up. Wheeeew - what a stench. Still a few painted ladies in the lobby the next morning ---- yes IN THE LOBBY Oldtimer, and one gay son of a gun at the desk. Had to wait for a taxi to git back to my truck, but waited outside in the cold.

Gotta love those kind of memories eh!!!!! Great guys those John McIlwraith's.
