HI HOG SQUEEZE

I want to know who might have a HI HOG squeeze chute, self catch or
hydraulic and what you think of it.

I don't have one but have operated a few at the neighbors. They are noisy and pretty light built if you are planning on using it for a large herd, especially if they are "active" cows.
We have a Morand that is 12 years old, the rolling headgate neede to be beefed up shortly after we got it but they have solved that problem now. It is quiet and very user friendly. I would recommend it over High Hog to anyone

I have a whole Hi Hog system except i wouldn't buy thier squeeze chute.
I bought a stampede steel hydralic squeeze. I like it. I think Stempede make a good tub system as well but i bought the Hi hog before I found a stampede dealer.

We have a Morand with a scale that we bought in 2002 and we really like it. The only thing that could work a little better is the cogs on the
gear are a little far apart. If the cogs were closer that would make
the squeeze more adjustable.

We also bought the maternity pen, but have had little use for it.
Guess it was good insurance!

I have heard Stampede chutes and working alleys are the ultimate.

Well I've A'i'ed several thousand head through Hi-Hogs and I don't find them to be light. If I do 5 head more through a Morand it will five too many-they are about a foot too short and the sloped sides make cows try and climb out. Stampede chutes are great but where the bar slides through is too low-cows can kick over it. The best chute to A'I in is a Pearson but they suck for branding yearlings. By the way I own a Pearson lol. I don't catch heads when A'I'ing so not really worried about headgates for that. Like I said before have worked alot of cattle through Hi-Hogs and got along just fine.

I too have AI'ed lots of cattle through lots of different types of chutes. And Honestly, I prefer breeding cattle in an AI Barn, I use one that can hold two at a time. I also carcass ultrasound thousands of cattle in different chutes. But as far as chutes go, I do like working the most is a Silencer both AI and Ultrasound. Pearsons are real good too, if the operator know how to work one (but that goes with all chutes). I actually bought a self catch Hi Hog a few years ago, and it is anything but light, and not even close to being noisy. The materials it is made of prevents alot of the clanging and banging, and I especially like the way it squeezes cattle, and all the different ways you can get access to the animals. I just got another HIHOG Hydraulic, made portable to haul around to all the places I have cattle and to use something better than those darned old powder rivers (cow chokers) at places I go to work.

My vet especially likes the HI HoG b/c of the head room (when doing ET work), and quietness.

I have never been around a stampede or Morand, I have been around another red one that is worked with ropes, It works good to but I prefer others better. But I would say that working Powder Rivers is the absolute worst chute to work cattle.

I've had a Hi Hog for about a year. I really like it and it is very heavy made. You can compare it's weight to others and it is very heavy built. It is basically a Pearson that they changed some of the stupid things that Pearson did. I think a Stampede is an improved Hi Hog, but they are very high priced. All in all I'm very happy with the Hi Hog. My dad has a Pearson and it is the worst chute ever to brand in and not as handy as the Hi Hog. Hope that helps.

We own a Hi-Hog. It is the arm strong version - hydraulics are out of our price range.

First chute I ever bought brand new.

I suspect we have run a couple three thousand or more through it.

We are happy with it - I do admit there are others out there and most are pretty good.

We also bought the trailer and haul the squeeze around from time to time - never had a problem to date.

If memory serves we bought it in 2001.

Our animals are fairly large and horned - herfs - holds them well and the squeeze action is pretty decent.

I would buy another if need be - but at this rate I figure it will out last the cattle career I have left in me.

Regards to all

We own a complete stampede system with hydraulic chute and the pivoting controls and it is twice the chute of the hi-hog the only brand i would probably replace it with would be silencer. Just my opinion after running many cattle of all sizes through it.
