Ty went out to put up a blind last night and had quite a time. When he came out from setting it up this guy was walking by at 25 yards-Ty got his muzzie and smoked him but he staggered off. He reloaded and hit him hard again and put hm down. When he got over to him he couldn't finmd him. We went out for three hours this A'M-he was sure he'd killed him but it was raining and I couldn't find blood and neither could our Beagle. I kept thinking he might just be dead out in this tall hay. Finally we were about to give up and try after school-I went to pick Ty up a bit off from me and drove right by him. He's an old grey faced buck on his way down-he misjudged him a tad but I guess 16 year olds are allowed a few mistakes-he thought he was a bit heavier beamed-still just under 140 though.

What zone are you guys in ? In my area smoke pole season doesn't start until Oct. 1 and we are only allowed 1 either sex tag. It must be nice to be in an area with 2 either sex tags. So is your boy going to go after a butterfat fawn or doe with a antlerless tag? It is good to see a young hunter having early sucess.

Were right on the boundary between 55 and the forest zones so we don't have to go far to fill our second buck tag. Ty will hang onto that doe tag till December I imagine so he can go out with his buddies. He's got a draw mule deer buck tag so he's looking forward to that yet.
