We switched internet carriers and they had a 'turbo' option, for more money of course  But since my aunt in Toronto had sent me birthday money and said not to use in on bills I thought I'd splurge on the higher speed...and boy is it nice!! Lately I hadn't even been looking at most of you guys pictures cause it took so long to load. The first ones I tried with the high speed were Mrs. Gregs. They appeared just like that :) :!: Too cool. So I've been looking at pictures like crazy. They are all great. My pictures also upload to Photobucket much faster, so look out :P

We have fast dial-up not high speed. Fast dial-up isn't bad but I hate downloading videos, grrr :? And posting pics, fast dial-up is NOT fast enough.I didn't realise it was hard for some to get pics...enjoy all the pictures now Nicky, they are all great. Look at DJL's,I love the mountains,my home side of our province. Have a great day.

I did look at DJl's, they, and yours are just beautiful! I love fall colors. This is still dialup, that's all that is available here. But we were at about 28Kbps, and this is supposed to be 3 to 5 times faster. I'm just thankful for whatever it it!

we had dialup but then the underground phone line wouldn't carry it anymore and it deteriorated pretty badly to the point of non existence. Then we got a direcway satellite and that lasted 2.5 years. It was fast and dependable most of the time so. Then it became hughesnet and the service was all but gone. Becuse it cost nearly as much to send someone all the way out here to fix it about 250 miles. And of course the warranty was up. Finally we ended up getting a wildblue satellite it is different than the direcway, but works pretty well and the service is only 75 miles away, practically local.

Anyhow, you need it if you work for a grazing organization and do everything from home. I even pay my bills online.

Hey Nicki 28.8Kbps is as fast as my internet ever gets, so I know what that's about. Uploading pics is an all day thing, started between household jobs, or you'd never get anything else done. We are looking into something a little faster, but aren't sure if it will work here. The ad says so but they don't always take in the topograhpy. There has to be something better than this!

We are using hughesnet.. I have no idea where it would be serviced from (The installer is only 20 minutes away) but hasn't been a problem yet... It can be very fast unless it is raining and than it just doesn't work.. A bit better in snow but you have to clean out the dish from time to time or it won't work... We were never going to be able to get true DSL out here or at least not for a long time so we had a few choices and this was the easiest... There was talk of a wireless service being available but they guy never got back in touch with me.. I think it might have been a scam but I could be very, very wrong.

All you out there that have dial up and are havin a terrible time uploading pictures........ok take for instance the photo contest......10 photo's that I hafta upload to photo bucket.......or my own pictures makes no difference. If you have a photo program that will let you reduce the kb size of the photo's it won't take that long to upload them. I can do 10 photo's in about 15 minutes to photobucket.....and I have regular old dialup service. 26.4 Kbps It doesn't change the viewing size of the photo, just condenses it into fewer KB's.

Ok, I'm officially jealous. It still takes forever to see the pics on here for me. While I was waiting for Tap's to come up, I changed clothes, did Al's and my meds for the night, and came back just in time to wait some more.............

Maybe with my new job, when the bills are caught up again, I may "splurge", too.........

Whos your phone provider?? We have Telus, fast dial-up.

Do any of these Satellite internet companies have cable TV options with them? Or is it strictly internet?

What would you expect to pay a month for any service faster than basic dial up?

Ours is around 16 dollars for dial up, and we use our existing ph. line with a deal called 'catch a call' so as to not miss incoming calls.

Don't know about the satellite options. I was paying $9.95 for internet with no email (so used Yahoo). Now am paying $13.95 plus the $5.00 for the 'turbo' option. Must be the only thing that is cheaper in Oregon than S.D., and calf prices  :P
