Do any of you have a homemade harrow and what did you use for drags? It's pretty hard to find decent harrow sections around here and if you find any they aint cheap. I've got a 36' dump rake that I want to use so that I can pull the harrow down the road. I was thinking about chaining truck tires together on the back or old steel rake wheels. Any input is welcome! Thanks AC

Truck tires work well. I have 1 now that I used tractor tires. It works but not as well as truck tires. Used to have one made from the old water drive Valley wheels. That one worked the best, but was kinda hard on roads when moving across the river.

I've seen guys use chain-link fence to good effect for that. I like the diamond harrows because they get a lot of the sisal.

The past two years I`ve been using a old 16 ft heavy duty( I mean heavy!) gate & it`s even better than I thought it would work. I used it just last week now that the "cow pies" are unfrozen & dry enuff to break up. Works like a damn! Of course, not everyone has an old gate like the one I`m using. Using some chain link in the bars might be even more effective.
